My first Salvia divinorum experience - ohmigod!

I'm posting this about 2 hours after my first ever use of Salvia - so I'm hardly an expert! But this was my experience. Your mileage may vary.

As a little background if you have read my intro or my post in the coke forum you will know that I am very, very old (40+) and I am an absolute newbie to all this. I've never done any drugs before a couple of months ago when I first tried smoking crack cocaine. I dont even smoke cigarettes.

As Salvia is legal here (UK) I don't see any need to talk about Swim's experience.

I bought some 10x from a shop (mail order) and a new pipe. The house is mine for the weekend (well apart from my dogs) so I decided to try the Salvia. I read the instructions and it suggested no more than 150mg so I settled on 100mg. "Three lungfuls held for a while" was the instruction. But as soon I applied the flame and inhaled I discovered that this sort of smoke is HOT! Hey, I said I never smoked anything like this before - Crack I realised has a lower temperature smoke! So a quick pause before burning anything, then a gentle inhale before I chickened out.

Anyway, after just a few seconds I realised that there was Something Going On. I had the presence of mind to put the pipe down, walks about three steps to where one of my dogs was lying (she always likes to be near me) and lie down on the floor next to her.

Then... Jesus H Christ the whole world vanished and was replaced by an insane picture which was controlled by a rotary air-dryer and rope. It was a hallucination that I could also hear and feel. And I have to say it was NOT my idea of fun. I can vaguely remember my dog licking my face, which she always does if I fall asleep near her )

I guess it only lasted about 2 minutes because the music track I was playing at the time was still playing and I started to become aware of my real surroundings again. My first thought was for my dog - I was scared that I might have hurt her somehow. But she was acting quite non-plussed a few feet away from me. Once I had properly returned to this dimension I shuffled over to her to check she was ok. She was - but no thanks to me I fear.

As for me, all the muscles on the right-hand side of my face ached (the gurn must have looked a picture!) and I realised I'd been trying to push the whole thing back with my right arm.

Now I don't want to sound like some moralising geek who says you shouldn't do this. Far from it, I'm not that much of a hypocrite. I simply want to add my little experience (and it wasn't that little to me!) to the sum total of human knowledge on here.

That was my first ever "trip" - the whole hallucinatory thing, and I must say it's not really my thing at all. But then again I get nervous standing at the top of a tall ladder and some people enjoy bungee jumping of cliffs!

For the first ten minutes or so afterwards I felt really nervous and kept on repeating words like "oh crap" and "that was just awful". As no-one within a hundred miles even suspects I have taken any drugs there's no-one I can talk to, so I tried to ring a like-minded friend (she lives a lot further away than that and she is my confident) but I ended up babbling like an idiot. I'm going to have to ring her tomorrow to apologise and probably buy her chocolates or something )

After an hour or more I'm much mellower. But I still would not willingly repeat the experience if it's all the same to you....

Please learn to use SWIM, or similar, in relating tales of what you lab monkey may have done/will do. Look up SWIM in the search engine for details. Do not incriminate yourself or others.

Other than that, a good report!

Hi Nagog

Thanks for the reminder. I do know about Swim but as Salvia is legal here I chose not to tell Swim's tale but my own because I'm not incrimitaing anyone. That is until Salvia, free speech and everything else is declared illegal. Which will not be too far while everyone keeps accepting all the erosions on our civil liberties. But that's a topic for a different forum, not this one )

I'm occasionally a bit confused as to when SWIMming is appropriate on this board.

Well I'm (very) new to the forums. So I may well be in the wrong here.

I wan't commenting to you, I'm asking Nago why one should not be able to post in the first person about legal drug use. SWIM doesn't go out and drink a few beers, Ido - or do I? Should SWIM do that, too? If there is a line drawn elsewhere than the legality of the action, I want to know where that line is drawn so SWIM can avoid crossing it.

I think that this is the sort of question that should be discussed in the "Forum Rules" rather than here. I'd hate to hijack my 2 minutes of otherworldliness over a point of forum etiquette

While alcohol and tobacco are embraced by the US government, and their lap dogs like Tony Blair, salvia is on the shit list. Better to be cautious and elusive than to let these goons know what you are up to. Who knows, but under a fullscale fascist regime, even admitting to a past legal use of something may be enough to obtain a warrent to search your house and question you after the now-legal substance becomes illegal. And salvia is at the top of the soon-to-be outlawed list here in the Untied Snakes.

For this, and other, reasons we strongly suggest that you get in the habit of using SWIM (or another invention). Wish it weren't so!

And don't worry - your post will stand as is.

Thanks nago...and I apologize for the threadjack - SWIMs been up to all sorts of no good this week and his head isn't 100%!

SWIYs Salvia experience sounds a lot like SWIMs. SWIMs glad he tried it, he found it a bit interesting, but twice was enough. Just not his thing. A tip if SWIY decides to try it again is to use a waterpipe. That cuts down on the heat significantly and allows bigger hits.

Keep in mind the hallucinogenic effects of salvia are much much different then ones given by mushrooms, mescaline, or LSD. Just thought I would point that out that the ones I mentioned are much more subtle and more widely enjoyable to more people. Wouldn't want SWIY to be scared out of halucinogens right away because of one bad salvia experience which isn't uncommon. Many people will like the magic mushrooms etc but will find salvia unpleasant, as said before effects are completely different.

Good report though. It sounds like you just didn't know exactly what you were in for.

I can definitely agree with where you're coming from. But IMO salvia is not a drug from which one can get a "little high." It's all or nothing.

Don't let SWIYs experience turn SWIY off from considering other psychedelics. Salvia is very intense, and a unique experience also. While it may certainly be true that psychedelics are not for SWIY, salvia is not a good yardstick. That's like comparing marijuana to alcohol or apples to oranges. I think that if salvia was the first "psychedelic" SWIM ever tried, he might be disinclined to experiment with others, also, but that was not the case.

I hear what you are saying. The choice was made largely because it's available legally here. However, I will be pretty damn cautious before considering trying anything similar in the future.

Mybe that's the authorities' plan - keep the scary ones legal to put off timid people ;-)

Then I'd say SWIY received a very useful lesson from salvia! Psychedelics should always be approached with respect and caution.

I wish something that interesting would happen to SWIM when he smoked salvia! (By the way, SWIE would like to know about whether or not this irritating SWIM stuff is really any use? Wouldn't SWILEFA or SWIP be able to work who SWIY was?)

This thread has a pretty succinct answer to that -

http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15581

Salvia is legal here so if the authorities really wanted to find out who the users were all they would have to do is check the Credit Card receipts from the mail order headshops!

You are right about the credit cards. In fact, I know that in the UK credit card information has been used to track people.

As for salvia, SWIM has only managed to get sensatations of non-localised pain, some interesting pusling energy or complete black outs. It's not something I'd do every day!

However, salvia is not at all typical. It's one of a kind!
