burning lungs
up until a couple weeks ago, I had only been smoking little joints, rolled up in the cute little paper and whatnot. then, a guy friend of mine was like "hey have you ever smoked a blunt?" i hadnt, and i wanted to try. i watched the whole process of emptying the cigar and rolling up, then we smoked it. goddamn, it was so strong. i had only taken a couple hits when it felt like my chest was burning really bad, i had to keep drinking pepsi while i smoked. so, is that normal or what?

Fee asks: "I had only been smoking little joints ... [Then, one day:] 'hey have you ever smoked a blunt?' ... we smoked it. ... it was so strong. i had only taken a couple hits when it felt like my chest was burning really bad, i had to keep drinking pepsi while i smoked. so, is that normal or what?"
The first few times I smoked a Bong, the smoke burned a hole in my lungs (or, I thought it did). My first Blunt was a similar reaction. The difference between taking a "normal" Hit on a Joint, and sucking down 5 times as much smoke (with a Blunt), is BIG. As long as (after a little while) your lungs recovered, then I would say that this same thing will happen to you for your next several Blunts. Of course, if you want to avoid this burning feeling, just stick to Joints (and leave the Blunts to the hard-core smokers). I sip on Gatorade when I vaporize (and when I smoke). I feel best when my throat is moist. |

Blunts DEFINITELY produce that burning effect if they're packed well. I think it can be attributed to the sheer amount of weed one must put in them in combination with the thickness of the tobacco leaf. SWIM smokes joints almost everyday and rarely smokes blunts but when he does, he certainly notices that they're more difficult to smoke. They do get you damn fried though. Best idea is to just take smaller tokes and train yourself into smoking them gradually. The same goes for most step-ups from joints: bongs, pipes etc.

Yeah, they do get you fried though. Nothing like smoking a blunt with a friend and getting the car so smokey you cant even see. When you finally step back into reality, you are baked.
Like he said, just take it easy on the hits. Trying to take huge bong rips is the only thing that would mess up swims lungs. Swim doesnt see much difference with blunts compared to something else for lung pain. |

Blunts get you so damn high though that its worth the harshness. They last really long too, so theyre great for partying.

Oh yes, after I smoked that blunt I did have a really good high but the burning somewhat freaked me out.
I'm glad that this is a normal occurence, but I know I'll be sticking to joints

The burning feeling that you got was probably more from the the tobacco that was in the blunt prior to the weed. If you don't smoke cigarettes that can be pretty harsh. If you can, take out the inside layer of the blunt wrapper.
