HUNDREDS PUFF MARIJUANA IN NEPAL'S CAPITAL TO MARK HINDU FESTIVAL
KATMANDU, Nepal (AP): Hundreds of Hindu holy men, devotees and tourists smoked marijuana near a temple in Nepal's capital on Sunday as part of festival celebrating the Hindu god Shiva.
Though possession and use of marijuana is illegal in Nepal, smoking cannabis is tolerated during the annual festival.
Ash-smeared holy men wearing loin cloths shared marijuana cigarettes with locals _ and even some tourists in a forested area near Pashupatinath temple, on the eastern edge of Katmandu.
More than 150,000 devotees were expected Sunday to visit the temple, one of the holiest shrines for Hindus.
Shiva, the Hindu god of destruction and reproduction, has been depicted in images smoking marijuana.

Pot plants grow wild all over Nepal, but they are either all males or turned fag.

that definitely isnt true as swim smoked some of the best buds of swims life picked from wild plants in Nepal. try the foothills of Annapurna. not quite feilds of green but not far off

I confirm. Best hash swim smoked was one year old hand rolled charras from wild plants, annapurna region, near Ghandruk.

Some villages swim went through in 1995 and 96 were pretty close to fields of green, pretty much nothing but wild cannabis growing

Funny how they make it sound as if this is weird of those Hindus to do that, even though these people were thousands of years ahead of us, and while prohibition is actually the odd thing here.

The 'chillum babas' in India smoke too. It's OK to smoke within a temple with them-- you supply the hash of course!

It's a shame that the US's ignorant prohibition has been imposed on a culture which has used hashish for such a long time. In Pakistan, alchohol is prohibited, whilst hash is socially acceptable, although technically illegal.
