cross tolerance with opiates

[Herbal Remedy]

swim has some vicodin, percocet, oxycontin, and demerol (meperidine) pills for pain. swim has been taking the hydrocodone for a few days and has built up a big tolerance to it. swim is wondering if he takes one of his different meds if he should expect the same tolerance (should he expect to have a tolerance to oxycodone or meperidine since he has a tolerance to hydrocodone?) swim doesnt know much about demerol (cept that its nice and strong) but he assumes that hydros and oxys are similar enough that tolerance should be expected. Also, if any of these medications shouldnt be mixed (for pain or recreation) please let me know, i just wanna play it safe. peace...

any opiate is goin to show cross-tolerance with all others (unfortunately). this also goes for tramadol and kratom (i think). so yes, unfortunately those will boost your tolerance. try taking 30-60 mg dxm with a lesser dose of opiates, sometimes the dxm helps potentiate them. the medications probably should only be mixed with caution unless you know really well how you respond to different dosages of these drugs. in themselves they probably arent harmful to mix, in that you wont cause brain or organ damage, but you dont want to run the risk of ODing.
