Which is stronger films or tabs?

SWIM has started the SUB STRIPS recently and SWIM can not differentiate the difference in strength between the sub strips and sub tabs... At one time SWIM took the tabs so SWIM has had both. SWIM def seems more drowsy on the films more so then the tabs... SWIM just wanted to see what the community thinks about the differences and if any strength differences of sub films vs sub tabs.. SWIMS gut feeling is that films are stronger thanks...

My pet thinks that an 8mg strip is no stronger than an 8mg pill. However, with the strips, they desolve a lot faster, thus possibly increasing the amount of the drug that enters in your system. Maybe this is why one would feel that the strips are a bit stronger?

Swim safely!

good point. they may not be stronger, but feel stronger cuz of better absorption.
This post is 100% correct.

Re: Which is stronger films or tabs?

AP, that would be my assumption as well.

Since the films dissolve more efficiently, they get into the body via the sublingual action almost entirely - no large-ish amount of buprenorpine getting taken orally via excessive saliva. For the same reasons, less naloxone (if any) is being swallowed, thus it isn't activated as much either.

So far, the films seem to be a good option all around; they work better, are easier to 'break down' into smaller amounts than tablets are (ever taking 0.5mg from an 8mg Suboxone tablet? *lol*) & generally are less expensive because there are still coupon programs & such. So, unless your health insurance covers the cost of the tablets but not the strips, it seems like strips are the way to go - at least for the time being.

Re: Which is stronger films or tabs?

AFOAF agrees with AP as well. In AFOAF's experience the film is much less of a hassle and because it is in a film form, gets absorbed much faster and less goes to waste. AFOAF get's much more of an initial kick off of the film as opposed to the tabs as well.

The only reason AFOAF would consider taking bupe in tab form would be if AFOAF was low on cash or without insurance and needed a generic form of bupe such as Subutex which only comes in tab form.

Re: Which is stronger films or tabs?

SWIM greatly appreciates the feedback.. since SWIm has had a week or so with the films, they have proven themselves quite nice. They are easier to break up and absorb faster with less nasty tatse. SWIM has also done the tab then next dose films... the films feel like they have quick onset of action, therfore i would agree the films are a better option all the way around thanks..

Re: Which is stronger films or tabs?

The tablets and films are obviously equal in strength. The films absorb better as someone already posted above.

In the package insert that comes with Suboxone, it specifically states that patients switching from tablets to films should be monitored for over-medication, and that patients switching from films to tablets should be monitored for under-medication.

For anyone interested, here's a link that I posted for the package insert to the file archive. http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/loc...0&linkid=10567

Re: Which is stronger films or tabs?

tell your doctor that you get headaches from the suboxone and that you wanted to be switched to subutex. wayyy cheaper.

Post Quality Evaluations:
pointless post that adds nothing to the thread & does not address the question posed by the OP
