situation

i woke up this morning to my dad telling me the police were there to search my room. he let them in and consented to a search. apparently i was under suspicion for stealing jewelry from a party, but they didn't find any jewelry. they did find 3 gram bags of weed which i told them they would find ("3 grams? well buddy thats more than an ounce! wait...er no, no it's not is it")some baggies and some paraphernalia. so i got cited for posession. the cop told me i would probably have my drivers license suspended or revoked or something or have to do community service or pay a fine or that they might charge me with intent to sell. is there anything i can do in this siuation or is that a legitimate search? i live in california by the way.
