Like the taste of beer, but mostly dislike alcohol as a high (light buzz is OK). More than that, what's fun about blubbering can't talk, room spinning, sick to yer stomach. The ultimate "dumb drug" makes people act like apes in high doses.

Too much of any drug makes you peform insane acts..

I love alcohol and upgraded to only fine vodka for my liver for its
lack of impurties. I get drunk almost every night with out hang over
the next day.. Hang over is caused by 2 things

1) cheap booze

2) didn't drink enough water b4 going to sleep

Bash alcohol as you may as every religion bashes others.. but each one has their own following..

If you're going to look at it objectively, then weed makes people act like drooling mentally retarded kids with an appetite.

I used to love alcohol. Now I can't hadle it. I haven't drink in 6 months. For those who can handle it-more power to 'em, for me-it's the stupidest thing in the world. I have no idea what will happen once I get drunk. Alcohol in general I think is the worst drug. I'm not condemning anyone for using it. I used it, and I think everyone should let other peoplelive their own lives. But alcohol is the only drug that infects every organ in the body. It's the only drug who's withdrawls can kill you (heroin looks worse but it won't kill you) Most alcohol damage is permanent. Alcohol is responsible for more lost work days, car accidents, deaths, fights, divorces, etc. More than all other drugs combined. ALCOHOL IS THE #1 DATE RAPE DRUG IN THE WORLD, but they made GHB illegal. What the fuck is up with that.

I agree. I only drink ocassionally to be social but I don't tend to get drunk these days because I can't stand being drunk. I'd rather expand my mind by getting stoned but it is personal preferance.

Re: Is alcohol a waste?

OK, as quite a few have praciticed "necrophilia" on this thread, here goes:

Alcohol is quite a serious drug, but certainly not a "waste." It doesn't seem to contain any "mind-expanding" qualities, as do the psychadelics, but for simple pleasure, there isn't a single drug my lizard prefers.

Although many (most?) drinkers miss out on this effect, lizard finds that heavy doses of alcohol fill him with euphoric sensations. He has not found another drug (including multiple dalliances with opiates) that produces the same "orgasm of the soul" that high doses of ethanol does. A sufficient dose of alcohol effectively produces the sensation of "having lunch with God:" of being finally worthy of such association...Naturally, the downside of such euphoira is addiction, as one is inclined to repeat the sensation as much as possible.

As lizard spent much of his adult life in a situation where he was denied acess to illicit drugs, he wondered if his preferences were the result of absence of access...subsequent availability of illicit drugs convinced him that alcohol was uniquely enticing to him...as much of a heresy as it is to say it amongst "druggie" types, if presented with a choice between alcohol and cannabis, it'd be a pretty easy call for booze...

Re: Is alcohol a waste?

Alcohol, in my friend's opinion, is very useful as a social lubricant and to get the party started (ie: get people in the mood to dig into the real drugs). Alcohol also is great for after a long day of work or other stressful activity, sometimes one doesn't want to get fucked all to hell on RC's and coke. Sometimes a few beers hit the spot just fine. Also, as you age you will most likely develop an affinity for the taste of a certain brand or type of alcohol.

I think I would die without beer. The only problem i have with alcohol is that it makes me destructive.

That was the way I thought a few years before I quit. Then I got more and more destructive and had to read about it in the paper

Alcohol is a very good drug. I live in a dry county and have to drive 20 min to get a cold beer and that is just not right. I have access to pretty much any drug that I want. But have to go out of my way to get booze. There are many days that I just want to sit back and have a cold one. Not get wasted just have a beer. Also I think that drinking tequila quickly is the closest thing to the rush that heroin gives ya. And that is an impresive feat for any drug.

LOL, way to bump a 4 year old thread. By now the person who started it is probably no longer a little boy, ended up liking alcohol after all, and has already died of liver failure......

Sorry, not trying to pick on you but I couldn't resist.

Re: Is alcohol a waste?

In my opinion, which I can readily support with proven facts from several third-party research papers, alcohol may be the most dangerous drug known to mankind. I consider several factors when deciding the overall relative danger of a psychoactive such as addictive potential, short-term/long-term physical and psychological damage, overall effect on society, availability, impairment of motor-coordination, and the level at which the state of mind is altered under its influence.

So taking all of those into account, I can firmly say that alcohol is one of, if not the most dangerous drug known to society today. Is it a waste? No, it's a threat.

Couldn't agree more. Its a menace. Of course it can be used responsably and enjoyed. But the fact of the matter is that it is dangerous to the person consuming it and others around. In moderation its OK but people often tend to go over the top.

It doesn't help much that I act like a total smacked ass when I drink! GOD I hate alcohol....
swim would have to disagree.. he enjoys the disinhibiting and sedating effects alchol provide.. the key is amount large amounts aka 3.0 bac and above are a waste as one ont remember, will make an ass of themselves most definatelly, and possiblly die. swim however loves to have a few beers with his homies or maybe get hammered and meet some girls around town.. swim does agree most other drugs are better but theres nothing "wasteful" about alcohol in his opinion

Re: Is alcohol a waste?

alcohol, next to opiates is swim's favorite drug. Why? It taught swim what freedom is really like. Simply not giving a shit and laughing at it is swim's ideal drug. It relaxes, especially in low doses, and the unpredictability makes it much more fun than weed. Who knows what's going to happen when your drunk? But it always creates good discussion the next day. It might be dumbing drug, but it forms swim into the person he wants to be.

And to the jackasses that said alcohol isn't a real drug, from swim's experience, it's definitly one of the hardest drugs, up there with opium and blows cocaine out of the water. plus the withdrawl from it is reported to be really bad.

Yeah, swim said alcohol wasnt a real drug, but he was being flippant. After opiates, benzos (all the effect of alcohol with no hangover) MDMA and LSD, alcohol is SWIMs favorite as well. In fact he is enjoying a sixer right now of strong Belgian ale, as he does most nights. Habituation is a bitch thought, and you are right to say the w/d is bad. InSWIMSopinion wd severity goes Benzos/Barbiturates-Alcohol-Opiates/Kratom etc-Cocaine and other psychologically-only addictive drugs.
