Flexiril (cyclobenzaprine) and in depth drug testing

My friend took flexiril today (sunday) for severe back spasms forgetting that he had an upcoming drug test on saturday. His dad (since its at the same company he works for) says that it is an in depth urine test that includes testing for prescription drug abuse. should he expect the flexiril to show up in the test?

How often has your friend taken this?

If it was the first time then your friend should just drink a lot of water before the test and he/she will probably be okay.

Well just tell him to drink a lot of water before the test and he should be okay.

Is he young? How is his metabolism? He is cutting it pretty close.

Just tell him to dilute his urine tho.

He's 19 and has a slow metabolism. However, he does intense workouts 3 days a week plays basketball 2 nights a week, and will be doing yard work all week, this should speed up the process right?

Re: Flexiril (cyclobenzaprine) and in depth drug testing

Well working out is a way to increase metabolism which inevitably determines how fast a substance is cleared from one's system. So the fact that your friend does these activities is raising his metabolism. The most important thing to remember to for you friend to drink a TON of water before the test. Although drinking water days prior to the test does nothing. Just make sure his urine is diluted for the test.

Ok, I'll make sure he doesn't eat or drink anything but water the morning of the test. However, I've heard that they get suspicious if the urine is too watered down and do extra tests for ph, etc. Would it be smart to also drink some gatorade or powerade that morning?

Tell your friend to take a couple of B2 vitamins the day of the test to color the urine and also to take some creatine supplements everyday for 2-3 days before the test. This is because they check for creatinine levels to make sure it is not diluted. By raising creatine levels above normal is the way around this.

Okay, well overall I think he'll be okay, since its close to the end of the detection window that should put it under the levels that they allow a person to have

Yea the fact that most of the drug will be gone anyway coupled with the fact that it will be diluted from drinking excess water should be enough.

PM me after your friends test to let mek now how it went though!

Re: Flexiril (cyclobenzaprine) and in depth drug testing

Cyclobenzaprine is routinely prescribed for everything from menstraul cramps to locked up TMJ's and pulled muscles.

Canmedaa would suggest that so and so tell the testing administrator that he had an old script for Cyclobenz and over the counter antiinflammatories weren\t helping, so he repoped an old bottle. Its not a narcotic. Even if it shows in the drug test, its not the kind of drug we generally look for. Best to tell them ahead of time with an explanation. A little 'honesty' (even if not completely honest) can go a long way.

People here do know that when your trying to flush out drugs before a tox screen....eveidence of that does become evident upon examination of the tox screen...especially if the testee is on any other meds (ones their allowed to take) because you wash that out too and 'Renal Watering', while not illegal...is kind of like failing a tox screen, but not in a manner that anyone can act on. You guys all know this, right? Sometimes Canmedaa wonders...

Good luck on the test!
-CAN

P.S. if caught with some drug on a tox screen and you live in the US and the person ordering the test isnt likely to ask to see your passport. YOu can always blame it on some Canadian doctor you saw during a little road trip. Canada has been accused by the states of being a first-world columbia....Doctor might just blame it on one of us incompetent, spineless, socialist canucks Docs and 'reeducate' you about the irresponsible errors of our ways up here. ;P

My friend had it prescribed for tension headaches but has since then lost the original prescription and the bottle (please dont call him an idiot, he already knows). Say it does get detected, can he have the people at the company contact the pharmacy to see if they have it on record?

Pharmacies should have a record of receipt for payment. Your not an idiot, plenty of people dump their meds in plastic pill kits and toss the bottle.

You should be fine.

Good Luck,

Your friend isn't an idiot, don't worry. *grin*

If he actually did have a prescription for it, I totally wouldn't even worry about it. I wouldn't even super-flush or anything like that; flushing only helps the body get rid of THC & then the 'flush' that everyone can do the day of their test is just to dilute. As Canmedaa mentioned, having a dilute can work against you as well. Although I had a serious dilute once on one of my tox screens back in the day...however, since it had been 90+ degrees that day & for a few days prior, I got away with it by just saying I'd been hot. Heh.

Anyway, if he has a legit 'script, don't sweat it. He can go to the pharmacy in advance & get a printout of his prescription history back until whenever it was prescribed, that way he has it ready if needed. I don't think it's even anything they're gonna bother to check for, or worry about - it's exceedingly common to be prescribed & it's not a narcotic, so...*shrug* Honestly, if it were me, I probably wouldn't even bother telling them in advance, but then if it showed up & they called me out I'd say, "oh, yeah! I totally forgot about that! I have a prescription for it that I take as needed & completely forgot that I had that back pain X days ago!" But that's just me - he'll have to decide which way he wants to play it.

Good luck & all the best - don't forget to update this thread once the results are in, just to let us know how it went for him!

Okay, I think it will be out of the system by the time the test rolls around. The one problem is that he lives in ohio but got the prescription during college in north-central pennsylvania so its not like he can just pick up a form that day.

I have taken Flexaril before many drug tests, both 5 and 10 panel, and never had a problem. These drug tests were for both pre-employment as well as court-ordered, but neither the employer nor the Parole Officer ever mentioned a positive hit. That being said, both kailey_elise and Canmedaa give superb advise. You should be fine.

Re: Flexiril (cyclobenzaprine) and in depth drug testing

If it was filled at a national chain pharmacy (CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, etc etc), you should be able to get a print out at any other store in the chain. If not, they can just call the doctor or whatever.

But, I really don't think it will be a big deal, even if it does show up on the screen (which I think has a low chance of happening anyway).

Swims friends dad is wrong. Only if you test positive for an illicit, then they'll do the in depth test that tests for prescriptions. He will be fine. Unless he did an illegal drug. SWIM shouldn't worry about it.

lol thanks! I was actually thinking that exact thing about putting it on the fridge. Also its the best job ever, my boss requested 2 people and the company put 6 on our team so we finish everything before noon and still get paid for the full day.
