Unanswered: How long would it take this person to test negative from Xanax?

Okay so say theoretically that someone who is not me took only a .25 mg pill of xanax for the first time in their life, how long do you think it would take for them to test negative to a urine test for benzos?
Take into consideration that this person is probably pretty young, around 18 and is really skinny with a fast metabolism?

Stith added 14 Minutes and 20 Seconds later...

Also a second question that AFOAF had was does it take more time for xanax to be undetectable in urine if someone took say .25 instead of 1?

Stith added 677 Minutes and 20 Seconds later...

anyone have info?

Re: How long would it take this person to test negative from Xanax?

According to DrugTestTimes(Pretty reliable), complete elimination is 7-10 days.

Try looking at this thread. There are some tips there that can help maximize your chance of passing.

I wouldn't be too concerned because of the low dose and single use your friend did. However, use the tips in the above thread just in case.

EDIT:
Here's another resource.
http://www.passingpisstests.com/drug...drug-test.html

Don't bother with drug detox kits. They don't work. If you are really concerned, you can search around the internet for supplements that might increase the speed that the benzo is eliminated out of your body.

Re: How long would it take this person to test negative from Xanax?

Okay that's good for my friend. I mean one would expect that AFOAF would be clean quicker than a lot of people because of his metabolism and it was an extremely small dose correct? AFOAF says that xanax is undetectable from urine a lot quicker than my other benzos. Is this correct?

Re: How long would it take this person to test negative from Xanax?

Well I'm not sure about this, but alprazolam causes cross positives with other benzos, so there probably wouldn't be that much of a difference between elimination times.

The best thing for your friend to do is flush and dilute. Boost your metabolism as much as you can and stay hydrated. Remember, NEVER use the first piss of the day for a test.

Re: How long would it take this person to test negative from Xanax?

7-10 days. Truth be told. I get drug tested all the time by my PO. I'm prescribed to Ativan and Klonopin. I've even had it in my bloodstream as I took the drug test. Never showed up positive once. And my urine wasn't deluted either. Benzo's are very hard to detect even with a GC/MS drug test.

Benzos are perfectly easy to test for, especially longer acting ones such as diazepam, otherwise they would not be included on all the common self-test kits. In this case they are probably not tested for as I would imagine it is known they are prescribed. Another possibilliy is that they are out of the system quickly if only used sparingly, thus giving a clean result.

Back on topic - as to the OP's question, it is pretty much answered I think.

Post Quality Evaluations:
Great to get back on topic, nicely done.

Re: How long would it take this person to test negative from Xanax?

Okay. It's 7-10 days for the shorter-acting benzos, like Xanax (alprazolam) & Ativan (lorazepam).

For some reason, Klonopin (clonazepam) often doesn't trigger the benzo portion of a drug screen until you start taking larger amounts (5mg+). This is not always the case, so do not rely on this!! However, often if someone took 1-2mg or less of Klonopin, they probably wouldn't come up dirty. However, the very same tests seem to pick up on Xanax even with as little as .25mg. I'm assuming it's a metabolite thing, and whatever Klonopin metabolises into requires a larger amount be in the system to trigger it, whereas the levels needed to come up dirty on whatever Xanax metabolises into is far lower.

Librium (don't remember the generic name) & Valium (diazepam) often will trigger the test & show up as dirty even after 10 days; Librium in particular seems to take forever to get out of the system.

The only way to pass the test is to not take anything the test tests for. Heh. Otherwise, a bit of prayer & diluting your urine are the only real options; sometimes you'll pass & sometimes you'll just buy yourself some time ("Sir, your results came back inconclusive, would you come in for another test?"). Taking supplemental creatine (GNC-type stores) can help make the dilute not seem so dilute (they sometimes check for these levels, since they will be low if you're drinking a lot of water to try to beat the test), and a B complex vitamin can help add some color to your urine. Some sex & red meat the day before & day of couldn't hurt either (creatine levels again). This is all "basic" how-to-pass-a-drug-test stuff, though.

The lower dose & the more time between dosing & the test increases your chances of passing, but nothing's foolproof, so get to know your deity of choice very well in the time up to the test. Oh, buying a home drug test from any major drugstore chain can give you some piece of mind & is recommended if you're super paranoid & worried.

Moke - as MM said, it probably either wasn't tested for or they didn't tell you that it came up hot because you have a prescription.

But on that topic, don't think that just because you have a 'script for one kind of benzo that you can take any of them & be fine. My ex gets drug tested & it used to just be the typical dip stick style. When & why, we're not sure, but all of a sudden they started telling him he was coming up dirty because he had Valium or Klonopin in his system - his prescription is for Xanax. So you never know if they're gonna send it for specialised testing via GC/MS & be able to tell which benzos you're taking.

Stith, what was the end result? Was the test passed, or did it show up dirty?

Re: How long would it take this person to test negative from Xanax?

7-10 days for alprazolam (xanax) sounds seriously incorrect to me; unless you are taking large amounts of xanax and have been taking it daily or frequently.

The half life of xanax is only 11.2 hours. .25mg of alprazolam, especially considering you have never taken it prior to this, should be out of your system within no more than 33-44 hours.

Or you can just get prescribed to the medication on probation and you would never have to worry about the drug tests again. I'm prescribed to Klonopin and Adderall. If I show up dirty I just show him my script and that's the end of that. It's so wired though, when I was prescribed to Ativan and had it even in my bloodstream. I got tested. I tested positive for adder all, and on the GC/MS test it didn't even show the Ativan at all. I've been drug tested dozens of timesband never showed up positive for benzos once.

My pet was taking Xanax for over 5 months. The last month he tappered off using Xanax XR. 3 days later he got tested and came out negative.

It's hard to believe all the hard drugs don't last more than 4 days in your system and marijuana can last over a month.

Re: How long would it take this person to test negative from Xanax?

OMG, are we seriously playing this game?

It *CAN* take a week to get out of your system - if you want to play it safe, give yourself at least a week before the test.

If someone only took .25mg as a one-off & doesn't normally eat benzos, then their chances of passing after 3 days or so is pretty darn good - but it is not a certainty.

Any number of things can change how fast or slow someone metabolises any substance out of their system. In particular, having a compromised liver is NOTORIOUS for GREATLY increasing the amount of time it takes for anything to process out.

Was the OP probably safe, having taken a one-time .25mg dose of Xanax? Probably.

But it would be irresponsible to say "yes, definitely, you'll be fine!!"

It's worth noting that my pet has a very fast metabolism. It's also worth noting that he was a daily user for months. So he would think OP is safe, 80% sure. Those are good odds in my opinion.

Yeah, but would you be willing to bet 20% on your freedom, if this test was for probation/parole?

Better yet, would you be willing to bet with those odds on someone ELSE'S freedom?

*grin*

That's the point I'm trying to make here. Yes, so&so may have passed after X days, but that doesn't mean EVERYONE will. We also have to be ready & prepared for the worst case scenario.

Here's an example. Cocaine is out of your system pretty fast usually within 5 days even for a heavy user. I got drug tested on Day 11 clean, after having been in the hospital for 10 days - I was only out for, like, 6 hours before I randomly got the test the next morning. I didn't even have TIME to find cocaine (well, maybe I could have, but the dealers I knew at the time didn't work that late. ). I definitely did NOT use. 11 days out, I popped dirty for cocaine. I was floored (& pissed off!) - these are oral swabs, which are supposed to be even more sensitive at only catching "recent" use. I had no problems with my liver, nothing like that, had a high metabolism at the time, etc etc.

Shit just happens. I'm not going to take the risk of telling someone he'll totally be fine after 3 days, esp if that test could cost him his freedom or livelihood.

Re: How long would it take this person to test negative from Xanax?

Xanax is a very fast acting benzo. It's probably out of this persons system right now. Even if it were in this persons bloodstream it probably wouldn't show up in a drug test. Someone I know has had high doses of Ativan in his system weights 189 and never showed up positive for it. This is on dozens of occasions. This friend of yours has nothing to worry about.

Re: How long would it take this person to test negative from Xanax?

With that dosage and not being on chronic therapy, I'd give it a few days. Depending on the benzo, the typical time range is 1-6 days in blood and 1-10 days detection window in urine (of course all dependent on biological and genetic factors as well as dosing regimen and compliance to that dosing regimen). Typically, with the low dose benzos (clonazepam, lorazepam, alprazolam), a person on 1-2 doses of a very low milligram tablet per day will screen below cutoff on an immunoassay for benzodiazepines. Alot of labs still use a 50 ng/mL cutoff for benzos in urine, so it might even be below the confirmation cutoff.
