People - Drug Culture Icons

The other day i was browsing through blotterart galleries and i noticed a Fat Freddys Cat print. I had totally forgotten all about the Freak Brothers and the Rip off Press! It got me to thinking about the culture of drugs and the people behind it. I mean we all know about the freak brothers and Cheech and Chong, about Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters, the beat writers Ginsberg, Burroughs, Kerouac. Theres Timothy Leary and Hunter Thompson. You could say that Woodstock was an Iconic event.
Yeah we all know these and more, but they are all AMERICAN. Canada doesnt even have any decent candidates, maybe Bob and Doug Mackenzie lol, a couple of beer swilling hosers. But there must be some honourable metions from Europe and elsewhere, whether they are artists, writers, underground humourists, scientists, a famous festivel etc. etc.
Bahaha, this is all just fodder for my noggin. Ive got an interest in politics and other cultures but following all the recent stories in the media has hurt my brain a little . I need something fun to digest. So any links, pics, stories, bios, personal experience would be really cool. Lets celebrate international Drug Culture.
