Whats the Law on ground Dried Poppy pods in UK?

Let's see. Dried Poppy pods are legal (Millions of them end up in Flower Arrangements).

Then you ask if changing the form of Dried Poppy pods could make them illegal. Common sense (which is not always right) says that grinding up a legal product does not (somehow) make it illegal.

If this were true, then if I stepped on a Dried Poppy pod (and it smashed into crumbs), I could be arrested. It certainly seems unlikely, at best.

To be absolutely sure, just call your local Public Prosecutor's office. Ask your question. I am sure you will receive a definitive answer.

Then, you ask if selling already-ground-up Poppy pods is illegal. My answer is: "If the ground-up product itself is illegal, THEN selling it is also illegal."

yea last night, the law is sometimes not all logic and common sense, take magic mushrooms for instance. Holding freshly picked mushrooms is not illegal, but leave them in your room and let them dry naturally and they become illegal. So I was wondering if crushing dry pods is not illegal why dont we see more people selling them in ready made dose packets ?

This is probably a bad thing to post because it doesn't directly answer your question, but here goes.

Poppy pods are illegal in the United States. Completely. It's illegal to sell, possess, or buy them. The reason it's so easy to do is because the DEA and the police generally don't enforce this particular law. They don't enforce it because there actually is a legitimate use of dried poppies as flower arrangements and there's no way to tell if any given sale or possession of them is to be used for flower displays or extracting narcotics. However, ground poppies quite clearly are to be used for their narcotic value, and the police wouldn't hesitate for a second to arrest the owner of said powder.

What you really have to ask is if dried poppies themselves are illegal in the UK. The problem is, they could have the same policy as the US. The end result is that you think the poppies are legal because nobody gets arrested for them, but in fact they are. So don't automatically assume ground poppies are legal just because you can get dried poppies online without a hassle.

Even if dried poppies are legal in the UK, it's quite possible grinding them is considered manufacture of drugs.

First I want to point out that magic mushrooms no matter what state there in are now illegal, in the UK.

As for the poppy pods I would say that ground poppy pods in the uk are illegal as they would be deemed a preparation, as you could just eat them as is.
Ungrounded poppy pods are legal as they legitimate uses.

Unlike dry cacti and MHRB where there has to be some sort of preparation made out of them before they can be consumed.

there are also several blurred lines of distinction regarding species.....many US pod growers have crossbred various strains of poppy creating entire new halfbreed subspecies. if the particular poppy strain can be proved not to be entirely of somniferum descent then there would (in theory) be some legal leeway.

the dea has been worried about a crossbreed of cannabis and hops for decades now. to the point that they watch those who purchase seedlings, et cetera.
