whats better for pain control Mscontin or Methadone

My doctor just switched me from mscontin to methadone for pain relief not detox and was wondering if anyone here has had any experiences with them. If you had a choice which one would you choose? The Ms contin wasnt doing shit for me and it was so expensive. i was taking 60 mg 4 times a day and would feel more relief taking four vics. thanks .

In swims opinion, it seems your docter may be have feared you were devleping an addiction to your mscontin and switched you to avoid problems in the future.

Is methadone any good? Does it give you similiar effects to oxycodone?

Methadone is the most putrid drug around. It gets you absolutely smashed but not in the nice heroin way. It just turns you into a brain dead zombie however it is very good for pain relief. If you have enough you won't even know if you are alive until it is time to get dosed but don't ever think you will be able to get off it, the hanging out isn't as intense as heroin but it lasts for months and that is if you ween yourself off and then stop when you are on a low dose.

If you can afford it buy heroin on the street or go to a country like Australia where all prescriptions cost $6.00US and try and get IV morphine.

methodone is good to stop withdrawrals thats it! you dont get much of a buzz, it just makes you tired. Ive never tried the iv meth, just the green goop they give you over here in the uk.

what your doc did is very common. overall, methadone is a much better drug for chronic pain. MScontin is generally acknowledged as being a horrible drug. It serves an excellent purpose--giving a doc the power to prescribe an around-the-clock formulation of a small dose of the true gold-standard in opiate care. the problem is that the oral dose of morphine just really sucks for pain relief or abuse potential (at the doses prescribed), so the next step up is methadone. Oxycontin was creeping up as the standard until the bad press hit, and it has taken a beating backward. Now, methadone is standard treatment for MScontin failures.

You should enjoy the analgesic properties of methadone. it's pretty constant throughout the day and you can always take something OTC like tylenol for breakthrough pain. Just don't forget to take it at the same time everyday (the methadone).

And it sucks! Morphine is the original opiate, so everyone judges other opiates by comparing it to morphines effectiveness.
