College Research Paper!

Hey, I recently started college and I am taking a English Comp. class. We have just be notifited that we are going to be doing a arguement/research paper and the topic is our choice, which I find to be a good chance for me to write about something I'm actually interested in! I have done many different research papers on why marijuana should be legalized and I don't want to do that again, I think something new and more challenging is what I'm looking for. I know that I defiantly want my topic to be drug related, because that is what I'm most interested it. I was hoping maybe some of you could help me out and give me some topic's you think would be good/apperioate for me to do, or atleast give me something to start from!
Thanks!

argue that MDMA (Ecstasy) should be allowed for use in therapy sessions, especially marriage, family, and group counseling.

A hot topic issue would be the undertreatment of pain because doctors are afraid of having they're doors kicked in by the DEA. Trust me, this is a good one! Few people are aware of the thug tactics often employed by the DEA, and few are aware of this problem. If anything, the media makes it look like the doctors are the bad guys who want to get people hooked on pain meds.

I must agree with torr. MDMA as a psychotherapeutic agent would be an excellent topic and premise. Especially in light of it's being brought back into limited use in helpling veterans of the Iraqi war cope with post-traumatic stress.

I know it's a little different, but maybe still applicable to your paper.

I know of a SWIM's neurologist who is trying to get a grant right now to study the application of MDMA for end-of-life care. Hopefully this isn't a secret that SWIM was supposed to keep. Certainly someone else has addressed this as a possible application... just thought it might be interesting to know that there are actually MD's out there who's hypotheses rest in their faith in MDMA for therapeutic usage.

SWIM works in Palliative Care and knows of several patients who have found MDMA to be immensely helpful. Penicillin for the soul indeed.

Richard Smoker: Thanks for that information, it makes me happy to know it's actually being though about and taken into action, rather than just it being a concept. I think someday we'll see it happen...a long while from now..but maybe...

Yeah, the big joke going around is, "where will they keep the MDMA?"

(referring of course to the nurses, family members, etc.)

Someone's random comment: "they'll have to keep it tied around the patient's neck in a little metal case with a lock-and-key timed dosage device."
