Cooking Amanitas

I've heard a very lot of conflicting information on this.
I know that cooking amanitas changes the active chemical, as well as the potency, and also that amanitas are best dried.
A lot of people argue either that they're better when cooked or not. What do you think?

You definitely want them dried, and it's not so much cooking them as using
heat to dry them that is important. This will convert an active chemical,
ibotenic acid, into muscimol which is less toxic and gives more desired
effects. After that, there are varying opinions on ingestion, although
powdering and mixing them with hot water is the most common.

See the "best preparation" and "Amanita Basics" threads for more info on
this.

Don't heat at a high temp. Best to use a food dehydrator for a slow dry.

^True. If you use your oven, turn it onto the lowest setting possible, and
leave the door cracked.
