Stems and IPA

As SWIM and his mates get through a fair bit of weed a day they usually throw out a lot of stems. This seems pretty wasteful and since SWIM has some 90% isopropyl alcohol (maybe 95% can't remember) he thought it would be a good idea to collect all the stems and try to make some sort of hash oil or something. His plan is to soak the stems in water for a few hours to dissolve any water soluble stuff not needed, then soak them in IPA for a few days. SWIM then plans on evaporating this down to an oily consistency and would then either vaporize it or pu a drop on top of a bong rip or whatever. Will this work? And how many grams of stems do you reckon SWIM would need to get a decent amount of oil?

As far as i know, stems carry no active alkaloids at all and the fan leaves only trace amounts. I think the only use for stems is putting them just before the roach so no crushed bud comes through when you bun on it. Sorry to disapoint.

I used to know someone who saved roach papers and stems to make oil with. I'm not sure if this worked or not but it should, you would need ALOT of them though.

Allex is right about one thing though, there are no alkaloids in it, because THC is not an alkaloid.

Ahhhh sorry i confused that, I may die of embarassment. Stems do as it happens contain THC i must have got that from a very uninformed person.

I do know one thing you may be able to do though if you dont want to make oil..Ive heard you can use the resin from the end of the ALOT of joints you've smoked and make another joint out of it. Several of my friends did this somehow and claim it was successful.

You can use the stems for cannabutter. Just make sure that you have alot of them saved up, or it's a total waste. If you want the equivalent of 1 gram weed in your butter, you'll need maybe 3-5 grams of chopped up stems.

Yes, Stems have THC (and cannabinoids) in them.

So, Psychedelaholic, you can soak all of your Pot stems in alcohol. Then, just allow all of the alcohol to evaporate, and you will have some Hash Oil.

This has discussed elsewhere, but any kind of alcohol is OK (including vodka). Soak your stems for a couple days. Strain out the stems. Dry the liquid. Smoke some killer Hash Oil.

One bit of advice: While Pot seeds have a bit of THC in them, this doesn't work very well, so stick to your stems.

In fact, you should ask all of your friends to save you their stems. Then, say once a year, you show up with a vial of Hash Oil, and dazzle them. Recycling helps.
