Suspicious Prescription?
My friend's psychiatrist is an idiot. When he handed him three prescriptions, two of them had mistakes (dosage related) on them, so he had to rewrite two of them. After the appointment, he realized that the prescription for Adderall said Adderall XR, not regular Adderall. This is a little bit of a problem, because he only need Adderall in the mornings.
To get the prescription corrected he thinks he would have to make another appointment with the doctor, which is expensive. My friend was wondering if a pharmacist would accept the prescription if he were to "correct" it by just crossing out the "XR" using a pen with the same color ink. |

call your doctor and ask to exchange the perscription or something. Don't try and tamper with a perscription. That's bad news.

He will want my friend to make another appointment. It's happened before.
Once he prescribed my friend 30mg Prozac #30, which does not exist. The pharmacy said they could give him 10mg Prozac #30 and 20mg Prozac #30, but it was twice the price. He called his doctor and the doctor said to come in for an appointment because he can not call in prescriptions. |

I dont know where you are from but where im from my doctor can call in a script. Its actually been done when he perscribed: "split in half a 50mg pill" There was no pill only capsule so he had to call in 25 mg capsules.

Altering a Prescription (even by crossing the XR off) is a Felony. Now, the odds of the Pharmacist calling the doctor to confirm the crime is small (that is, unless the XR is crossed-off with a differently colored ink), but still . . .
One way around this (if the Doctor was willing) is have him give you Oral permission to alter the Prescription. If he (or his secretary) tells you to do it, then cross it off. If the Pharmacist is suspicious, he can call the Doctor, and be told that the Prescription is valid. But, hey, your friend should be happy he's got the Prescription at all. AND, next time, he should LOOK at them Prescription while he is still at the Doctor's office. Learn by your mistakes. Another option could be, bring the Prescription to the Doctor's office, and ask his secretary if the Doctor could scratch-off the XR some time, between patients (this would different from him having to actually write up a new Prescription). |

My friend told the pharmacist that Adderall XR was too expensive (there is no generic available) for him and asked for regular generic regular Adderall. The pharmacist had no problem with that but advised that next time my get his doctor to prescribed regular Adderall.
