SWIM is winding down one hell of a drug binge - a couple of weeks and a couple ounces of crack. By myself.

What's your most excessive binge? Was it worth it? SWIM hs a lot of stories to share - anyone up for a discussion on the nature of binging?

SWIM's most excessive binge was a half ounce of mushrooms over two and a half weeks. Learned a lot, had a shitload of fun, and realized that my friends are about the best people I could ask to have around me.

Of course, SWIM mostly did this because he didn't think they would keep. He considered just taking two really big trips at 1/4thoz a peice, but wasn't sure his stomach could handle it. SWIM has digestive problems sometimes, usually due to inactivity and sloth (it's cold here, so it's tough to get the kind of exercise he needs without an expensive gym membership)

SWIM is gathering herself together after said binge. Reality bites a little but SWIM survived it, even though at several points she wondered whether she'd wake up if she fell asleep; she's sure that she didn't sleep for three or four days straight and probably slept a total of 25 or so hours throughout.

Makes SWIM wonder whether it's possible to get any higher and what the merits would be of even trying; SWIM definitely recognises that the drug was doing her and wonders whether she's particularly susceptible or if anyone would have had the same experience.

SWIM has also pondered what the dynamics would have been like had she not been indulging alone. 7am Sunday Mass with a grandparent in the midst of the madness was certainly a mindf**k!

Thanks for the response, bored; it's been years since SWIM indulged in mushrooms, but she has the utmost respect for anyone who can inbibe hallucinogens to that extent and still remain sane. That must have been an incredible trip.

SWIM remembers it happily, it was no particular drug but a mass arrangement of drugs taken over a 5 day holiday. The drugs consisted of a half O of weed, a 40 oz of whiskey, 1/4 ounce of mushrooms, 100mg's of dexedrine, a gram of coke, 80 mg oxycodone, a box of whipits and 2 packs of smokes. All this was done with 1 friend.

Whippits are Nitrous Oxide, usually from cans of Whipped cream, or canistes for making whipped cream. Fun stuff. You can find tons more about it on the forum and internet than I care to explain here.

This does bring up some interesting ideas, though, on the nature of binges within certain types of drugs. What similarities and differences would a binge on stimulants have to a binge on psychedelics or depressants?

Besides the obvious difference in the nature of these drugs, i would say that a binge on stimulants would be the worst to come down off of and would probably last longer as to delay the come down.

Depressants i would say are 2nd worst to come off of however its more of a come up so not as bad.

And for psychodelics, im assuming your talking about hallucinogens, i think that binges on hallucinogens are not bad at all, personally i have very pleasant come downs from hallucinogens. but i feel they are not a binge drug, to me they are more...mystical i guess, i use them sparingly, more for introspection than for binging.

Personally my worst binge was after my highschool graduation, after i got al lthat money, i did an ounce of coke, smoked an ounce of weed, drank 2 bottles of captain morgans, took 30 xanax, and 60 percaset in 5 days. It was an awesome time and i have no regrets. i used the coke and percs together then for the come down i used the weed xanax and alcohol.

I'm not trying to offend you at all, obviously. But I can't seem to beleive there is even time in a day to take all those drugs without ODing. The coke and the percs alone would easily be enough to keep you smacked out for 5 days. That would be like you taking 60 mgs of oxy and about 5.6 grams of coke (roughly 40-60 lines depending on you) per DAY. Anyway, I'm not gonna call you a liar but I am asking for an explanation on how this was possible, or if mabey you exagurated somewhat?

SWIM is an unabashed former spliffhead, as in 10+ years straight of smoking virtually every day, and can only compare/contrast marijuana and cocaine. Ultimately the main difference, in SWIM's view, is physical; it's only possible to smoke so much cannabis sativa without falling asleep, whereas SWIM is convinced that if she had a kilo of cocaine she'd indulge until.... well whenever!

During the aforementioned binge - which ended up being about 3 ounces over 3 weeks - she found herself nodding off while taking a shower. The realisation dawned that as long as it was available she would do nothing else except pipe. Sleep/eat etc be damned.

SWIM used to (attempt to) rationalise drug usage and would come up with all manner of reasons (excuses?) but while binging the only concernwas the next hit. SWIM has concluded that cocaine is so dangerous (bad?) because it's so darn good. Paradoxically, while "enjoying" the mammoth session immensely, SWIM was longing for it to finish so she could revert to "reality" (even though since it's conclusion almost two weeks ago, SWIM still finds herself scouring certain places wondering whether she'll find a rock or two!)

Part of SWIM's willingness to indulge to that extent is due to the nature of it's availability; SWIM occasionally visits a country where it's ridiculously cheap and she has a first class source. If it was a case of calling up Mr Pusherman every hour and paying exorbitant London prices for teeny amounts, the inclination just wouldn't be there (thank heavens!).

SWIM wonders at the class connatations also; SWIM supposes she's middle class - her parents are professionals, she's a graduate, initial drug use was in a fairly cosy setting - but if her day-to-day reality was inner city bleakness from which there was little or no escape, she can definitely appreciate how crack would appear to have all the answers and how easily it could become an all consuming crutch.

Wow, Iheart, have to say that sounds like an exorbitant amount! What was the recovery like? I'm 10 years older than you and can only say that maybe youth had something to do with your capacity/willingness to injest that much - would you do it again?

Haha im sorry, the coke was split between 2 people, the weed was with many people, the cap'n was with one other person, and the xanax and percs were with 3 people. I got distracted near the post, sorry for the incomplete post.

And it was a good time, the come down wasnt that bad, but i wouldnt do it again just because i dont want to make a habit out of it. my body no matter how young could not take that very long

SWIM has had huge binges in her beginning time SWIM and her sister smoked almost daily it didnt matter if the scrape the pipe 10 times or searching the floor together that evening SWIM has more this lasted 3 months than SWIM quits realizing the have smoked up very much money. now she smokes sometimes
