Ambien (Zolpidem) CR?
Sleepwise, is this any better than Ambien?
Recreationally speaking, is CR just a worse Ambien (due to the time-release "coating")? By the sound of it, if it were chewed, inhaled, or injected it would have the same recreational value as Ambien, except you would actually be getting more per bottle, since the pills come as 12.5mg tabs. Has anybody used this stuff? |

Snorting or injecting it wont work since it is practically insoluble in water. I think it is soluble in an alcohol solution, but injecting that would not very pleasant.
I'm not sure about the release mechanism for Ambien CR. It's probably possible to destroy it by cutting the pill up into many tiny pieces with a razor and swallowing those. It might be necessary to powder and swallow (with the help of water) though. Ambien CR looks like it might be a little better for sleep, especially for those with early waking problems. Ambien is good for people who have insomnia due to "restless thoughts". Keep in mind Ambien is a "sleep aid". It's not going to knock you out or even make you very tired. It primarily works through slowing down people's thoughts. For people who have problems associated with Ambien still remaning active 7 hours after taking it (such as blurred vision), Ambien CR will actually be worse. Anti-psychotics and anti-depressants with sedative properties are still very effective (and widely prescribed) for insomnia. |

Ambien CR has two layers. One layer is the regular Ambien (the good stuff). It is white. The second layer is slower the slower acting Ambien. It is off-white, sorta yellowish. You can turn the pill vertical and slice gently with a very sharp razor right down the middle to reveal the two sides. You can then do one of 3 things.
1. Swollow one or both slices. The emptier your stomach, the better. 2. Place either one or both slices under your tongue and wait for oral absorbtion to take place. 3. For the brave soles. Place under wax paper. Crush into a fine as powder as possible. You may still have to do some razor blade work. I still don't know to get that blue coating off. If anyone has any ideas let me know. |

Ambien (Zolpidem) CR
SWIM has a large amount of Ambien CR (Controlled Release) tablets, 12.5 mg of Zolpidem tartrate each. No matter what SWIM does, he can't seem to get high off these pills like he can with instant release Ambien. SWIM has tried swallowing, snorting (he found out that zolpidem was water insoluble later) and crushing/parachuting it. Parachuting 25mg of zolpidem, CR or not, SHOULD knock SWIM on his ass, but it barely feels like anything more than it would with 5mg of instant release Ambien. Why is this?

Re: Ambien cr
SWIMs understanding is that Ambien CR ( as opposed to the original Ambien) has little potential for abuse. Either way, after consuming any significant dose of Ambien CR swiy would feel too drowsy to be "high" at all. It's a sleeping pill.

Re: Ambien (Zolpidem) CR?
SWIM has had a script to ambien CR for a few months now, and as there are few resources online to go off of, SWIM has had to figure it out for himself.
It is SWIM's opinion that zolpidem is best taken for a "high" through insuffilation, but you have to take a few steps to prepare it. Remove the blue coating by placing the pill under SWIY's tongue and wait to taste the bitterness of the pill. Take it out of SWIY's mouth and rub the excess blue off on SWIY's palm or a paper towel or something. Once the blue coating is off, you will see that one half is white, while the other is a yellow-ish color. The yellow is actually the good instance release ambien, the white is the CR ambien. You can tell because the yellowish breaks into a fine powder, while the white is all gummy and won't hardly crush. Split the halfs apart by any means necessary, once SWIY gets a good amount of pressure against them they slide apart relatively easy. Break up the yellow side, snort it, and just swallow the white half. Onset is less than 20 minutes in SWIM's experience. The effects are roughly comparable to insuffilating a 10mg instant release ambien. Good luck everyone |

Get the blue coating off Cr
Simple....put the pill in your mouth, the blue will start to dissolve, spit the blue out and you will be left with the pill only. Let it dry before using.
