Drink spiked
My son was partying on Christmas Eve, drinkin' some wine with a buddy. They went to a couple peoples houses and then came home. He shortly went crazy, trying to fight everybody, tearing up the kitchen, talking to himself, etc. Even his voice sounded completely different. It was like he was posessed. Now it's 4 days later, he STILL hasn't been able to sleep. He's wound up, paranoid, seeing things, can't make his mind stay focused, and has a sore throat. He remembers doing all sorts of things that he can't understand why he did them. It's got him pretty freaked out. He obviously got something slipped in his drink without his knowledge. I thought someone had slipped him a large dose of meth, but he has done enough meth in the past to know that is NOT what it was. He completely blanked out for a couple hours, and doesn't remember what happened during that time. He did not drink enough wine to have these things happen to him. Any ideas on what could cause these effects?

It could be many things, but the duration and behavior are suggestive of Datura or another plant in the Solanaceae Family.

Yeah, there are many things it could be.
It sounds almost like PCP to me (it is very soluble in alcohol, and high doses can have after-effects that last for days [or even weeks], behavioral signs match up as well). Anyone else got a better idea? |

Datura is extremly hard to come by, and I think it would be hard to slip into someone's drink (considering that it is a seed). The symptoms his son has don't really resemble those from Datura.
It could have been PCP, maybe with an additional stimulant such as meth. However, it could be almost any drug, because some people react to drugs very strangely. There is no way to know exactly what drug it is, unless the person who administered the drug tells you or you get a drug test done. Last edited by 788.4; 28-12-2005 at 22:58. |

It could also be the onset of a psychiatric disorder triggered by stress and alcohol. It could be just about anything. It could be acid, It could be schizophrenia, it could be depression it could be a manic episode. I wouldn't necessarily jump to the conclusion that it must have been drugs. He should see a Doctor or Psychiatrist.

Hmm, pcp is a tempting answer because it's so simple, but there are many research chemicals that could produce similar effects. I believe there are some research chemicals that have long half lives in the body, so they have a long duration of effects. Whats that one that people were talkin about, DOC, DOI, DOB? I know very little about RCs but the one I was reading about can last for quite a long time.
RCs are usually active in very small doses in the milligram range, and they often come in powder form. One could easily slip a dose in someones drink. Research chemicals can be obtained via the internet with minimal problems, and there are no clear cut laws regaurding most of them. You could have drug tested him to rule out PCP, but a research chemical would not show up on a drug test. Also, what makes you think someone slipped something in his drink. If he did it willingly, he certianly would not admit to it if he had another option. |

It's the 30th and he still does not feel quite right. Somewhat anxious and uncomfortable, but able to sleep now. Believe it or not, he WOULD tell me if he had done some wierd drug. He hangs with a crowd I don't feel too good about, and it would not be too unthinkable for something like this to happen to him. I know someone else who had PCP slippid in his drink about a year ago, and he got into some serious trouble. SO thank heavens that my son had made it HOME before whatever it was kicked in. He is trying to find out WHO may have done this to him, and has a pretty good idea. Nothing like this has ever happened to him before...

If the situation is indeed exactly how you describe it, something is very wrong. Whether or not a drug was slipped to him is irrelevent at this point. If 6 days have passed and he still feels strange, it's a psychological issue. No drug would have an effect after 6 days. He might of suffered a psychotic break due to a drug.
You should call a medical professional and talk to them instead of this forum! |
