Vaporizing - Foil vs. Glass, bic vs. torch, & residue

So the swimmer has experimented a bit with the idea of vaporizing JWH-018 off foil in its various arrangement versus a standard light bulb vaporizor (using a torch to pop a hole...no fucking straws or tape or doohickies).

The swimmer finds that with a bic tin foil can cut it but it never keeps and it's always a pain in the ass and it's so wasteful to go through all the aluminum. And it's aluminum which has been linked to alzheimers (you're fine itf it's fresh from under the roll but exposure to air means aluminum oxide in your vap which is the association).

Not that it's anything conclusive or anything just always kind of creeped me out.

So the swimmer prefers pyrex but that's a little difficult for him to procure on the spot and light bulbs are convenient, cheap and disposable really. Like that white castle commercial. I swore to god it was targeting tweakers right when the swimmer quit smoking meth.

When the swimmer vaps with a bic it turns amber and leaves a black crusty foul tasting residue but when he vaps with a jet torch it burns clean and leaves a light white residue just like bic's n tin and doesn't taste as bad.

The swimmer has a cleaner, happier, more energetic experience. Less throbbing, nervous.

Any thouhgts on why this might occur this way?

God, don't use tin foil. SWIY shouldn't use tin foil because vaporizing with it is known to release toxic chemicals (not the tin, but adulterants in it from the factory).

Re: Vaporizing - Foil vs. Glass, bic vs. torch, & residue

^^ Really? Can you provide some literature to back that up?

I know a number of harm reduction groups distribute foil to addicts because their is a common belief that the thin film (of usually food grade) oil present on many foils from production tends to smoke/taste funny when first used, and has led to a belief that there is some harmful contaminant. But I have never seen any scientific evidence that there is any real risk from smoking off foil.

edit touched on in Helenes post in this thread: UK addicts may be given free foil for 'safer' heroin smoking

Re: Vaporizing - Foil vs. Glass, bic vs. torch, & residue

A rubber duckie bowling-pin uses foil and has come to the same conclusions. A regular flame will leave char on the bottom (and then to you fingers). Duckie has to *chase* the liquid with a regular flame.

Duckie used a torch and it works better but risks melting the foil! The foil will develop red hot spots which can turn into holes. Flame will easily ignite JWH-018 through the holes in the foil.

Duckie feels like a better solution would be glass + torch, but has no real idea where to get such a device.

Re: Vaporizing - Foil vs. Glass, bic vs. torch, & residue

This about sums it up. It's no reason to go instituting any DF HR policies by any means. It's just something that makes the swimmer a bit paranoid. Obviously not paranoid enough to not smoke off foil.

Quote:
Since the idea that the metal might be a risk factor for Alzheimer's disease was first proposed there have been numerous conferences on aluminium and health. The medical research community, international and government regulatory agencies and the aluminium industry all review the evidence at frequent intervals. The overwhelming medical and scientific opinion is that the findings outlined above do not convincingly demonstrate a causal relationship between aluminium and Alzheimer's disease, and that no useful medical or public health recommendations can be made − at least at present (Massey and Taylor 1989).

It has proved extremely difficult to devise studies to resolve this problem one way or another. Alzheimer's is a common disease with multiple causes, while aluminium is widespread in the environment, and there are no methods that allow us to measure an individual's 'body burden' or lifetime exposure to this element.

Re: Vaporizing - Foil vs. Glass, bic vs. torch, & residue

Daves goat being concerned with this comment, knowing the aluminum / Alzheimer’s Disease risk

but finding the following quote, is fairly happy that vaping off foil carefully is quite safe. - the post below now throws a spanner in the works?!

Quote:
Smoking Using Aluminum Foil

Most brands of aluminum foil (Renoyld’s Wrap with the anti-stick coating and similar brands being the exception), are untreated and remain 99.9% aluminum (again with the .1% being residues and other agents in the manufacturing process)

In order to inhale aluminum it would have to be changed from a solid to a vapor. This requires a lot of heat. More heat than what it produced by a butane lighter. A butane lighter is not even capable of melting aluminum, if a lighter fails to melt the aluminum, it will not be able to change the aluminum into a vapor.

Froms Daves goat scribings, vaping off foil is best when mastered with a torch lighter, clean and easy.

Re: Vaporizing - Foil vs. Glass, bic vs. torch, & residue

To the above i dissagre. Its not about that aluminium vaporises. It can be oxidised in presence of heat and air to Aluminium oxide, from what i read and that stuff can cause alzheimer.
If swiys want to vape from allu, just heat it before using so no smoke comes out of it anymore, it will be healther to use it afterwards

Re: Vaporizing - Foil vs. Glass, bic vs. torch, & residue

Daves goat has never really seen any smoke coming from foil, apart from finger prints/contaminants. A friend advised heating foil first too, which is a easy thing to do before vaping, just remembering to do it is the hard one. Daves goat doesnt like it and if a good glass alternative could be substituted.

Tried a glass tube too hard to clean, maybe a glass dish/disk on a stand?

Of course glass is better, it can be cleaned easy and cheap with alcohole (f.e. isopropanol from the drugstore) + salt + shaking like mad.

Re: Vaporizing - Foil vs. Glass, bic vs. torch, & residue

Ugh. Glass is a wasteful bitch. Somehow it just never hits as hard and chasing that little oil bubble all over a light bulb like uncle fucking fester is just ugly. Maybe if the swimmer had a real fucking glass dongle it wouldn't be such an issue but the jwh already has him feeling like a tweaker the light bulb just really paints the picture. Not that foil is a whole lot better but damn.

I mean the swimmer just doesn't feel it ever as hard off the bulb as the foil. If he does use the bulb the best thing he ever used it with was a Zippo because the torch unevenly heated the glass and the cracks in the bulb from the crafting rip it apart before long.

What's worse is that the bulb is so huge that you can't smoke it all without breaking it before you get it all.

So you end up trying to hold broken pieces of glass and end up using a toot to chase the dragon anyway right? fuck it...

The swimmer will go back to smoking weed anyway so hopefully that will stave off the Alzheimer's? LOL
