Second Hand Smoke

SWIM lives with a roommate who claims that if you inhale or breathe in second hand smoke, you can test positive for a drug test. This can't be true, could it?

yes it could, in extreme cases .... though the chances of testing 'positive' for use it not likely. more likely will be the come back traces, meaning they are around it alot, or used to smoke 3 months ago.

also, they would have to be exposed to second hand mj smoke on a daily basis for it to effect at all.

You definately can. The first year that snowboarding was an olympic sport, the canadian guy that won it tested positive for MJ, but was allowed to keep his medal as it was determined it was just from being at a party where it was smoked.

I never understood why MJ is called doping, nobody would run faster or snowboard better when smoked MJ.

It temporarily alters the state of mind, and thus it's illegal. I've had times that I became very very active after smoking some marihuana, and while others just sat back and relaxt I was talking their head off and just wanted to do all sort of things.

The effects always depend on the user. And because of that, in combination with the fact that it effects 'how you are' at the current moment, it is banned from sports and such.

It happens but not that often u have to be exposed to a large amount in a small area, like riding in a car that is boxed or being in a relatively small room while here is alot of people smoking. At least this is what i was told by my PO when i asked him about it. And being high doesnt make u run faster however i could believe it may make u snowboard better, i used ot smoke before atheltic events in highschool and it lets u go with the flow of the game and be a little more creative with ur actions so ionno it may help with a sport involving new unique tricks such as snowboarding.

one of my friends had this happen he was in a car with some friends who were hot-boxing a car, and he was on probation, 2days later he got tested, and came up positive with a 15% or something like that he said, but yea, he got locked back up, so i believe you can get second hand from marijuana smoke.

Testing positive for THC and claiming it is from second hand inhalation will still fail you your drug test, the government has ruled that it is not a viable exscuse.
