i know if i get caught with meth (any amount) i will go to jail. usually how long is the jail time for carrying under a gram?

I'm not sure if the drug laws are the same with coke and meth,but my friend got busted with a gram of coke and he was on parole and they sent him back to prison for 1-2 years.Most likely if you don't have a record they will put you in rehab instead of jail.

hmmm so no previous record is most likely rehab or is there a greater chance of jail time if the amount of glass is under 1 gram

If you have no record they will most likely put you on probation.When you are on probation they make you drop every month or so.If you fail your drug tests then they put you in rehab.



The more shit you get busted with,the more time you will get.Unless you rat somebody out,then you would face far greater penalties like retaliation.Don't do the crime if ya can't do the time.

It all depends on the statethatyou live in. my husband is sitting in jail right now for violating his probation ( he was put on drug probation for 18 months, for residue in a pipe ) and now he is facing possibly 5 years in state prison for walking through someones yard in our own neighborhood ( which we own a condo in )he has a terrrible record from 5 years ago, he was 25 back then ( nothing but some drug charges and kid stuff from around the age of 17 ) and now the prosecutor thinks that 5 years is reasonable for a felon of his caliber ( ????? ) well, I had to hire a private attorney and it's a big mess..we have two kids, a mortgage, car payments....trust me , don't take probation...they will screw you over if you do the slightest thing...do the time...I am about to lose everything ( I have worked part time since the birth of our daughter ) the lawyer doesn't even seem hopeful..we now have to go through this huge trial ...it's nuts ( he's being charged with attempted burglary ) we live 6 blocks away from these people....he walked through the yard ( it had a hedge ) and now they say it's reasonable to give him five years ??? what kinda monster will come out in five years....he just got promoted at his job right before getting arrested. we just refinaced our home and payed off all our credit cards...bought a new car....and now my mortgage is 200.00 more than it was before ( we were gonna come out on top cause the credit card interest was much higher than the mortgage interest ) Iam running out of money... and I am now an addict ( started with benzos, and now its meth and benzos....) mind you , this started with a little new years fun. ( he got arrested that week ) and now because of a little screw up. my life, my kids life...my husbands life is destroyed....and on top of everything I am an addict that can't go a day without being medicated.....and I am too weak too quit...and too tired...considering I never go to bed before 3 am ( no, I mean pass out on the couch...terrrified of ever facing this disaster ) trust me , if you live in florida.....be careful, cause whatever petty bullshit you do...will haunt you, no matter how hard you try to better yourself ....I live in hell because of system, ...why would a man that just got a promotion, raise, and money from refinancing his apartment go and rob a neighbor??? it's his score on the record sheets...he could be a mass murderer and score less,,,, and get " credit time served " this is so horrible...the only differance between himand me is ; I never got caught.....and that goes for sooooo many people. same thing though, same crime.....be careful .... thats my point, 'cause what you did is just try to do your little thing, you got caught, and now.... well, I don't know where you live, but around here.....you're playing the game...as long as the system wants you to...then...KABAM !!!! 5 to 6 years in state prison.....crazy, with all the criminals out there killing babies, slashing throats, raping children..they're walking around free as a bird...... war on drugs.....yeah, ok, whatever.....

wow i dont know wat to say blondie im real sorry and i really dont give a f**k about this kind of thing but wat they are doing to your husband is just abusing the law. i dunno if its the drugs but im really feeling for you and ur husband. i wish u guys the best of luck

well, as for me... I am a basketcase, it's past 3 am (but my clock on the computer is not showing the right time, it's showin' 12:20 am ) I am really tired, but I don't want to go to sleep cause facing yet another day is so horrible that I can't stand the thought of going through it... my daughter asking for her father, having to go to the county jail to take socks and tshirts to my husbands cellblock, make sure the bills are paid , figure out how to get child care in the summer ( my parents leave in the summer for work ) ...I'll have to be up at 7am to take my son to school, at this point I am so angry and sad, I don't know what I feel anymore... I am miserable, and completely overwhelmed, my life is so surreal right now, the loneliness, fact that I have no one to lean on right now...just goes to show...life can change drastically, this was gonna be our year...wow, job promotion, new car paid off credit cards....now....no job when he gets out, piles of credit car bills, and as for the new car ..he paid off half of it, so I have until sept 2005 to make a payment...then I have to sell it, the payments will be 400.00 ( including the ins. ) ... it's all down hill for me, I am addicted to benzo's ( xanax, restorils, ambien....you name the benzo... ) I don't feel them at this point. I don't feel anymore....I only do things because I am obligated to do them, I feel no enjoyment , no happiness, only misery and the occasional dilirium that everything is fine. those are my feelings. the thought of waking in the morning is horrific to me, I feel so sorry for my daughter, for my son . for myself...I never felt such self pity, I can't even enjoy my kids....I don't know what to do anymore.....thanks for the kind words and the prayer. I can't pray, I just stare at the wall for three hours. I don't watch the tv anymore, I find no entertainment in anything. everything is misery and disaster anyway, so who cares. I' will keep you posted on my husbands outcome....I need to pass out now, my eyes are feeling heavy...and I have to be up in 3hours...my usual amount of sleep... goodnight

Hi Blondie.....I think more people care then you might relize, I just came back from visiting my daughter who is serving 2~4 years for the Mfg. with intent to dealin the drugmeth, she is 28 and has a 8 year old daughter who now lives with us, usually she is in good spirits but today she was having a bad day..some of her charges were overly jacked but she was lucky to get only 2~4. I let her do most of the talking today and just listened and by the time our visit was over she was feeling a bit better. Sometimes just sharing your plight with those that do care can help alot. I hope you can find some peace over time and I would say to you never give up, we dont always know whether things will everget better but I think as long as we have some hope to sustain us through then there is always that hope it will...."were it notfor hope the heart would break"

In response to YOUR post, I'ld have to say it depends on your state & local laws (amount for minimum penalty, etc.); also on the circumstances under which you are busted, and your record with the cops.



In some cases it would also depend on the disposition of the cop(s).



There's a lot to determine the outcome of this, but your many other posts lead me to believe that you're smart enough to know the score on your own court.

im unclear on how they judge paraphenalia in california. im not sure if its considered paraphenalia when there are traces of drugs in it or even if its clean will it still be considered. ive also read many articles about police and my rights i suggest to everyone the police articles on erowid.org

Regardless of whether you're a minor or not, you WILL be put into a program for felony possesion. In LA/Orange county, if you get charged with possession, they give you two choices.



1) P.C. 1000 - this is for first time offenders, they put your case in something called a "DEFERRED ENTRY OF JUDGEMENT". You get 18 months probation and you have to take a drug education class for 6 months. They take drug tests at these classes. Afterwards, if you have successfully completed the program, the charges are dropped. But keep in mind, you have not been convicted, but there will be a court record. You can deny that you've every had to go to court for drugs when applying for jobs, except for federal government jobs such as millitary, fbi, etc...



2)You go into rehab/halfway house for a year. Afterwards they completely drop the case and there is absolutely no record.



As for getting a lawyer, it depends on your case. If you were smart and didn't give too much away to the cops to make a case against you, you can hire a lawyer who can either get the case thrown out or have the charges reduced. If you open you big mouth, you are screwed, at that point it doesn't matter if you have a private lawyer of just a public defender because you will get the same results.

if you're a minor, and you've had no prior convictions, you definately won't do jail time. a friend of mine (God rest his soul) got caught with an elbow of shrooms and a g of coke and just got probation and treatment, he wasn't a minor. but i'll tell you this my young friend, if you're ever in the position of facing some time, get a GOOD lawyer. in this case, trust me, you get what you pay for. I was facing 2 years, but thanks to my female lawyer which cost me over 14 large, I got my probation terminated and only got a little over 2 months. so if worse comes to worse, be willing to shell out some dough.

Im young. But up till know it is fun and games. Because ive

got contacts i will never need 2 worry about some punk holding me up when i walk through the city. I have done nothing yet ive got a really high status because people i grew up with made it and im their friend. I dont see anything in the future that might be a problem. I have no enemys nor a criminal record. I can do whatever i want with my life and should i decide 2 go in 2 the industry, succes is guarenteed.

LoL good luck to you pimpjuice, but just know that no matter how big you can get, the game isn't always fun. the drug game is like chess between the DEA and the Large distribution rings (Be it cartel, family, asian traffikers, biker gangs, or mexican gangs), everyone else are the chess peices.


I've seen lifelong friends turn on one-another because of the game. If you dabble in the world of drug distribution, and think it'll be all fun and games, you have a huge surprise coming.


Kids die every day, and friends turn each other in (squeel three instead of 5 years of prison can be very inticing when you've been up for 4 days and such) .... the drug world is never all fun and games.

I really appreciate your post pinkavvy. I didnt look @ it from that point of view. I didnt know that you couldnt even trust your friends. I thought they were a given and that whatever happens, they got your back. The 1ste time i read your post i thought that it made no sense at all. I thought that my friends would never betray me. Then i read it another time. Then it made perfect sense. The drugindustry is a difficult life, in the end it is everyone 4 himself.
