Sevilla police seize Mexican magic mushrooms
In a joint operation involving the Guardia Civil and Mairena del Alcor Local Police, 107 packs of Mexican magic mushrooms were confiscated from a herbal products shop in Sevilla yesterday after several intoxicated youths had to be admitted to hospital.
One of the youths was found by police on the main road connecting Torreblanca and Mairena, shouting to passing drivers that he was having hallucinations and had lost control of his limbs. Five others were found inside a small farmhouse on the outskirts of town.
An investigation established that the youths had bought three packs of Mexican mushrooms from a herb shop in Sevilla's historic city centre, where 107 packs with labels in Dutch and Spanish were found inside a refrigerator. It is thought that they had been sent by a supplier in Holland by courier. As it is illegal to sell psychotropic products of this type, which contain psilocin and psilocybin, the shop ownerwill be prosecuted.
