This is a *very* interesting news coverage of the failed drug war and the considerations of the Irisch government to legalize all drugs in Ireland. Ireland has drug gang deaths on a weekly basis and is considering a different approach to the lost drug war. http://dynamic.rte.ie/av/2093981.smil |

An interesting development though it seems, the amount of difficulty the country would face in order to legalise ALL drugs seems astronomical. With so many international restrictions, I find the idea to be very far-fetched. Perhaps in time, that marijuana/cannabis will be legalised or decriminalised here in the way that it is in the Netherlands and that laws involving cocaine (which some claim could be a possible epidemic here in years to come) would be loosened but in Ireland people tend to be all talk and no action.
Cheers for the video though Alfa. It brought me hope.

Interesting. Things are happening nowadays that I wouldn't have
considered possible ten or even five years ago. Though the DEA is still ignoring facts like any entrenched bureaucracy, I read the other day that all ten states that have medical marijuana bills are in open defiance of the federal government regarding the enforcement of the recent Supreme Court ruling against medical marijuana users. California in particular has instructed its highway patrolmen to disregard possession of pot (up to six ounces or something) when the possesser can demonstrate reasonably that they use the pot for medical reasons. Go figure. |

I think that it was most certainly the older generation that held
everything back. These days it seems as if everyone can at least talk about these things in a reasonable way. I don't think they'll ever get around to doing the proper thing (that is legalize and control) with drugs but getting ignorant people educated is half the battle. That was an interesting report btw, how do you find all these things alfa?? |

A profoundly depressing programme. Patricia McKenna says we should legalise drugs, but stresses that all drugs are equally bad. The medical expert claims cannabis is more harmful than alcohol, and points to the ONLY proven health impact - which relates entirely to teenagers. Rank dishonesty. Gay Mitchell says: we legalised condoms, that didn't get rid of single mothers and HIV, so legalising drugs won't get rid of crime. The mother of the addict says: I'm well-off, and it happened to me, so let's all try to sort this out. Also, cannabis was a gateway drug for my son (he 'started' on cannabis, then moved to ecstacy, then smoked heroin to deal with the E comedown.... perhaps if we went a little further back we'd find he had smoked tobacco and drank alcohol before moving to cannabis). Typical of the muddle headed ignorance and sheer dishonesty which charactarises this debate in this country.

This is retarded how can anyone claim MJ is more harmful than alcohol. When MJ as never killed anyone and alcohol has killed a shit load of people. Tobacco is a shitload more dangerous than both of these drugs but yet is completely legal. Go figure.
