no alcohol no life
Alcohol..I am addicted to it! I dont take as much ..maybe 4 bottles of wine a week! It ain't that much..but many a times I take alcohol as a means of exciting life itself..giving life some sort of artificial meaning..but the more I get addicted to lusts ..d worse it gets inside..but I just cantconvince myself that life without this addiction would be easier or happier.. At the end..I am juust trying to fulfill something..but its only voiding everything! teh more I know about what happens around in the world..the more I get like desperate and meaningfuless and the more I live life according to my instincts..maybe recessing the concept of being a human! Paradoxically..alcohol gives me something ot look forward toi..and that's not good It |

I thought this thread may have been about how if you don't drink alcohol, your social life tends to die a little.
I've majorly cut back on drinking in pubs due to the high prices and the fact that Irish pubs are now a joke and I'm convinced that I've been forced into my own little corner socially because of it. Everything seems to be based around the pub life here. It's such a damn shame. I wish they had coffeeshops here where I could sit down, smoke a spliff and meet some nice, down-to-earth people. So in a sense, you could be right about how alcohol gives life a sort of artificial meaning because society (and to a lesser degree its effects) deems it so because it's the only legal mainstream drug (apart from tobacco but I would hardly consider standing in a room for the night smoking fags to be a "night out") that is legal and generally acceptable. |

well ..at the end all the drugs are artificial m eans to create a 'nicer reality' but yeah..the legalisation of other drugs would be worth I guess! But ignorance about the subject :drugs itselfwill use drugs as other means of self destruction |

Well, most people drink about what you do, if your adduicted do you want to be? If not do varios things to help aid you, if no luck then nevermind just go with it. Lots of people under estimate how "bad" alcoholism is, i don't even like drink and only drink rarley (used to be daily, but i was never a "alcy"). Anyway do what you want (considering and weighing tings up) |

i was still trying to help though, not being rude, i'm another weak statistic myself, who can't stand being sober (pretty damn bad, but it's just me not wanting to be sober which is my choice, i keep strict principals.
ITS ALL IN THE MIND |

i would say that your gutt feeling is talking to you ...
i have years where i smoke alot of weed - but i also work alot for school - do my best - and have money to spend it on ... so, i choose and create a life where my conscince isn't bugging me .. but when it comes to the point that i'm getting lazy, not doing nothing and mainly smoking away my days ... well - that's shit ... i hate does times ... 2 ways out: work, be creative, drink, enjoy it if this is to hard to combine work, be creative, don't drink, enjoy it if you only drink to fullfil your life - i dunno - i can't stand myself only smoking to give meaning - action needs to come out of it - it has to balance out - maybe it's the same thing you're feeling? I started reading this book on meditation a few days ago and it talks about how there is this ubiquitous "unsatisfactoriness" in the back of our minds that prevents us from ever being truly happy. We are always looking for material, impermanent things to please us (like alcohol for example) and we are always after the next thing that can make us happy. Why? Because we're missing something, we are incomplete, and we need something to fill that void. Of course, since this is a how-to book on meditation, it goes into meditation as a cure for this, but that's another story.
