Who listens to Underground Hip-Hop?

i'm jus curious if anyone here has somewhat of the same taste in music as i'm not talkin' about HipHop/Rap 'mainstream' shit that you hear on the radio, that shit is as exciting as cat litter to me... example: 50 cent, Gay-Unit, Ludacris, etc etc. BAHH unskilled. -what i'm talkin' about IS: Zion I, Pete Rock, Ras Kass, etc etc...it's weird how the music industry operates. 50's huge status n unskilled technique has the music industry nmajority of ppl blinded like zombies whereas Zion I has REAL, skilled, conscious, insightful lyrics ANDfuturistic-type trippy beats on majority of everything he's dropped. yet, Zion I is still slept on... very few recognize his dopeness.

Yeah, I dunno...I used to really be into that shit awhile ago, but I got bored of it I guess. It really shaped my preference for electronic music though...from hiphop to acid jazz to ambient electronica and beyond.

Zion I has a song called Luv, some true shit, they speak their minds and their hearts out man and they have talent to make it sound impressive. Anyone listen to Lennox from Cleaveland man every song ive heard is good. Young Snead, Tech N9ne & his clique he raps with (underground to me cuz my homeboy grew up with it), SPM, Slaughterhouse, Qualo, L of Khemistry, Homegrown Playas, D.S.G.B.(no one i know has heard of them cept me) & Blazek which his rap style is actually underground rap (its a type of sound)

Blackalicious, Mr Lif, Aesop Rock, Del, yea... Hip hop is the shit. People need to broaden their horizions, nothing better than rocking out some Areatha Franklin, John Coltrane, or some Cream...

Immortal technique is pretty good, i listen to em every now n them but there still not quite what i like the best. My 2 favorite rappers arent underground but their bay area which is andre nickatina and mac dre(r.i.p). I also like e-40, keak da sneak, a little of smoov e. I like a different style of rap than most people i seem to personally know, its all eminem 50 cent g-unit bullshit. Im gonna try to find some of these other guys your all talkin about though, oh i also listen to necro every now n then.

I personally love Lil Wayne and The Sqad's mixtapes. I have all volumes 1-7. and also the suffix, mayor of the south, c squared, lilweezyana, waynes world presents vol 1. and 2, Dedication, da drought, and the prefix.

These mixtapes are so good that you could actually say they arent underground. Because everyone knows about them, well at least from my hometown.

I also love lil boosie, who recently became mainstream, but he still has tons of classics that and underground.

Also: currency, lil wyte aint underground but hes definitly not mainstream like 50 cent. Lil wyte is awesome.

Some underground shit, but I prefer not to call it that cause most underground hip hop is corny as hell. Aesop Rock and MF Doom are straight up garbage, fuckin gimmicks. I can't believe people say MF Doom is carrying the legacy of the Wu-Tang style.
Immortal Technique is ill though.

Re: who listens to Underground HipHop?

Im more into my UK scene like skinnyman, blak twang, foreign beggars, million dan. Underground US is good too, but i gotta admit we dont get much access to it here. Had a listen to a few of the artists mentioned in this thread and im quite impressedd.

A couple of US acts i have listened to before and liked is Roosevelt Franklin and foundation movement. dunno if they are underground or not though.
