How to abuse Fentanyl Patches

loperamide is a derivative of meperidine (demerol) but it doesnt cross the blood brain barrier...its most commonly known by its brand name, immodium! dextromethorphan or dxm is the active ingredient in OTC cough medications. theres alot of info on the use of these two to kick fentanyl habits, but swim does not want to get off topic in this thread, which is more about the use of fentanyl. please use the search engine, and swim will give you a link to a great thread (with some of d-f's finest writers contributing) to help you start learning!

Well the swim is not going off anytime soon.. the swim will ask for your detox assistance at a later date.. thanks for the info.. it is very interesting to learn how swims use things in different ways.. in this case fentyl, any of you told you could be on this stuff forever? The swim was told this is a posibility and that he or she would have to take the two meds combined with Lyrica as well.. swim might seek second opinion in another country.. btw is that icon pic the clockwork orange pic; moderator? swim has heard from lab rats with chronic lab rat pain that they could, indeed, be on fentanyl forever. supposedly theres no ceiling to opioid tolerance (although this is debatable).

all of these lab rats ended up tapering back down to morphine or oxycodone due to the unpleasant side effects of fentanyl. it left them more lethargic than other opiates, and some even got hot flashes.

the lab rats in question here reported hot flashes, or temperaturewise feeling very hot, being extremely unmotivated or too lethargic to do anything, nausea, increased appetite, sleep problems, nightmares, etc.

theres probably a host of others listed off in the literature accompanying the drug, but swim is too lethargic to check right now. okay back on topic!

Back on target somewhat.. what is the difference between fently and oxycontin, the hilly billy heroin.. is what the swim on better or worse? Is the relief from pain the same, or is one better than the other? Swim was given the option of another but he will have to pick one of those and hydro as this is the swim's doc's advice take both or nothing.. the swim found that a bit odd but whatever.. you hear the death from either one is about the same so this is of no concern.. the swim's pain has gotten worse for some reason, only thing he could think of was a 3 hour driving trip to go gamble and the 3 hour trip back home that caused the added pain which took onset almost two days later, other than that the swim is pretty much not very active, or I guess you can say lethargic??? swim reports now that it hurts to walk

theres probably not much difference between the pain control to be had by fentanyl patches and oxycontin (when the oxy is used correctly). the margin of safety for fentanyl might be a bit better, but you still hear about deaths from those. the drive could have strained some muscles, maybe the doctor can show you some stretches for them or get you a muscle relaxant (soma/carisoprodol or flexeril/cyclobenzeprine) for them, but upping the dose of the painkillers probably isnt a good idea just for the back pain. swiy may have to stay more active and this would not only help prevent further pain, but also would help counter the natural lethargy that pain killers tend to produce. swim knows many terminally ill and chronic pain patients who do very little but watch tv and go to doctors appointments to get more medication for their pain. swim cant help but wonder if their conditions might improve--maybe not fully, but a little--if their lifestyles were a bit more active.

but swim knows its not easy to do, especially at first. best of luck.

Funny, since the swim is very active, swim used to play volleyball twice a week, load up on hydro and go play, fool can dunk a ball at 5'8... cant explain the swims new found pain, maybe he or she slept wrong?? who knows.. anyway thanks for the info, newbie only knows the dro, the benz and thats about it..

definitely cant snort the mylan patches since the gel is somehow worked into the patch itself. the gel in duragesics probably couldnt be snorted conventionally, but itd likely work if inserted directly into the nose. The VERY BIG danger here is that fentanyl is extremely powerful and a whole patch up the nostril would kill swiy, very quickly. a small amount might work but the dosages with the gel can be tricky so swim would advise against doing this.

Just curious about how swims are getting these things to even experiment.. The swim I know gets them for legitimate reasons, I am puzzled why anyone would want to do anything but use them as intended... no one has unlimited supply to them so withdrawel if you ran out would kill you as well.. I do understand the urge to get a good high from them anyway you can but how smart can this be.. I have never heard of anyone selling these things so getting them is almost impossible right? unless you are like the swim I know??? I in no means am dogging anyone just curious about this other world is that I seem to know little about... I had my hay day in my twenties... this all seems to me hardcore, in my day the hardest thing was a joint with some cola inside.. or just the plain old black tar mixed with doans..

lets just say that if theyre used carefully on a person with a good opiate tolerance, but not every day, one can avoid withdrawal, at least for a while. its debatable as to if withdrawal would kill you. swim usually follows the adage that "alcohol withdrawal can kill you, opiate withdrawal will just make you wish that it could".

True, True.. wish it would of killed this swim I know a few times, I think it can.. could of swarn it was going to.. alcohol yes for sure.. but there is beer store every few miles to fix that..

its true. fentanyl is one of the nastier opiates to get an addiction to. swim is very close to someone who was, and even stepping down to morphine was no picnic for this lab rat. however methadone would be even worse, the withdrawals would last weeks for that. swiy may want to consider having some other opiates or kratom around for if the patches run out!

Back again and this swim I know is off the patches and is now on morphine cr and regular morphine pills, is this less than say the 100 mg patches of fentyl? The swim got real bad withdrawel the first day switching over. Is 60mg a day the same as 100 mg patch for three days or less?? wondering if this swim is cutting down or staying the same level of narcotics.. Swim would like to get off all this crap so was wondering the facts as doctors are not forthcoming on these things.. just do what they say and shut up is what the swim hears..

swiKevip, yes, going back to morphine pills from fentanyl is usually cutting down, with the dosages swiy listed. the morphine dose would probably be gradually reduced over a couple months or so, and perhaps swiy would be switched to decreasing levels of vicodin after this.

However, if SWIY is wanting to get off opiates, SWIM suggests that he ask his doctor about buprenorphine. It has just recently been introduced as a means to kick opiates, and seems to be working well thus far.

SWIF can vouch for Buprenorphines effectiveness at dealing with opiate addiction and withdrawal. Many of SWIF's friends used this method and SWIF found Buprenorphine in the form of temgesic most helpful during his diificult times.

Swim is very familiar with Subboxone which is basically the same thing.. it does work but not at the high levels the swim is on now.. he has got to come down some before it will work... swim having to cut up patches to cut down slowly as the withdrawel is killing him... its not like hydro withdrawal exactly, a bit different so swim having some trouble.. swim taking it easy, vacation day today..

Swim hates morphine, metal taste in mouth, still have withdrawel from old meds. Big time appetite loss and lethargic.. any suggestions on a drug to substitute for the pain and to stop withdrawel from the others.. Hydrocodone is this swims drug of choice as it stops the lethargy, give the appetite back and works perfect.. Doc doesnt like this choice though.. bottom line is to get off all this crap and just live with the pain as the swim doesnt think there is a cure for the condition he has.. if there was if would of been introduced to it by now, hell its been almost a year.. Swim is physically deteriating.. Sorry its not fentyl related in this post and is off topic, but swim would like advice on alternative besides subboxone.. tired and swim is almost ready to throw in the towel..

so how does SWIM manage to get off on the Mylan's, other than just eating or placing them on the skin?

How long would a swim chew on a mylan patch before its used up. Just curious. Personlly they have been recomended by docs for me as I have what a previous poster has, did roids, have degen disc disease and stenosis of the spine and shingles on top of that. The swim has always had good luck with the duragisic and is now frustrated with the mylans as according to him they seem like just plastic. Then again the swim takes about 600MG a day of hydro at times.

600 mg of hydro? SWIM hopes that either there is no acetaminophen in that preparation, that the 600 is a misprint for 60, or that SWIY is using a cold water extraction, because otherwise SWIY is doing a great deal of damage to his liver.

SWIM does not know how long one would chew on a mylan to completely absorb it. SWIM, when using mylans, would have ones that had been worn for 3 days, so that there was about 14mg left in the patch. he would park it in between his gums and lips like one would with nicotine gum, chewing intermittantly for about 5 minutes, and a buzz would begin around the 15-20 minute point. The buzz could be increased slightly later on by chewing for a couple more minutes. HOWEVER like swiNandro, SWIM had a high tolerance to opioids at the time. Fentanyl is absorbed extremely well through the mouth, and is very potent, and potentially lethal. Since the dosage can be tough to regulate since SWIY has no idea how much fentanyl is aborbing, here are some pointers:

1. Don't attempt this with an unused patch. This can be very lethal very quickly.
2. Don't attempt this if SWIY has little to no opiate tolerance, for the same reason as #1.
3. Start with a low timeframe. Maybe even just a minute, and give SWIYself 20 minutes to wait for any effects to kick in. Build up by increments of 30 seconds or so.
4. Freezing the patch in between uses can help preserve its potency, SWIM believes.
5. Be careful with kissing anyone after using this technique. Some of the fentanyl may be present in the saliva still, and while the concept of someone getting high from kissing might be funny, in reality it can be scary or dangerous to the person it's happening to.
6. Try not to swallow saliva while chewing the patch. Fentanyl is absorbed much less effectively through the stomach. Give the drug some time to absorb in the mouth itself.
7. Don't overdo it. When high, the tendency is to believe that just a little bit more of the drug will make SWIY feel even better than SWIY currently feels. This is not always true. Even a slight increase in a fentanyl dose can lead to dysphoria, loss of coordination, nausea, headaches, or even more physically dangerous effects.

So, that's SWIM's old method and some caveats. SWIM actually reccomends just wearing the patch, however. Its safer and still effective. Orally its too difficult to guage the dose and thus very perilous. For the aforementioned reasons, SWIM no longer uses Mylan patches orally, or at all for that matter.
