Swim wants to try e but zoloft

Hi guys!!! Swim wants to try extacy again after quite a long stay of not. SWIM is currently prescribed Zoloft at 50mg's. He was told by medical personnel to drop down to 25mg's for the next week before stopping the medication all together. How long before SWIM would be able to roll again after discontinuing the medication all together?

It is still possible to take MDMA and feel it's effects while on the anti-depressant, Zoloft. Athough, it's much more likely that you will feel the MDMA effects more if you're not taking Zoloft. Zoloft is an SSRI, the same class of anti-depressants as Prozac, Paxil, Lucox, and Celexa. The chemicals found in those SSRI's will reduce and sometimes even completely eliminate the effects of MDMA when taken together. Some people even wait until the end of there MDMA experience and take a SSRI to stop any of the unwanted after effects MDMA might give off.


Basically, foryou to feel the full possible effects of MDMA, you should finish off your medication and wait about a week or even two, to make sure Zoloft is out of your system.

You need at LEAST two months for the zoloft to clear your system. Not only is zoloft a SSRI drug, it is also a chemical congener of MDA. At LEAST two months.Edited by: nagognog2

I call bull here. Something just doesn't add up on two monthes here. Why wait two monthes?? Sounds a bit too much to me here. I looked up Zoloft last night in a PDA 2005 and the book says that the half life of Zoloft is only 12 days. Where do you get two monthes from??? To me personally the Zolft should be out of SWIMs system within 2 weeks to a month after completely stopping its use.

Just because the actual drug is gone in X amount of time, that does not mean that the changes it has made to your brain chemistry also has vanished. For your natural serotonin levels to be restored is what takes the two months.


Congener: Something that is alike. The molecule Zoloft shares several characteristics with the M drugs MDA and MDMA. If you look at them drawn on paper, you will see this. I should write a full paper on this subject...have fun!

SWIM has been doing some various research of his own on this topic especially on erowid and he has found that you guys are mostly right. There's no doubt in most cases SWIM should wait cause the effects will not be nearly as good as without the Zoloft. However there have been the select cases where people claim that the zolft makes the roll even betteror has little no effect on the roll either way. He's been reading about these cases very closely. I believe it is fair to say that according to body chemsitry, pill, dossage of zolft, you will get varying results. He did however decide to wean off the Zolft slowly and wait the 2 monthes.
