hello guys. i'm andrei from romania

My Monkey is a chronic weed smoker for the past 5 to 6 years,but smoking since the age of 14 (now he is 24)

He has this to say:

"i used to smoke about 1 -2 grams a day , started up socially ,smoking with friends,but for the past 4 years i've been smoking it alone ,whenever,wherever . for the past 6 -8 weeks, i started to have panic attacks. at first sight ,i thought that there was something pshisically wrong with me,until i went to a doctor in a deep panic attack, made some test ,and everything was allright. my dad is a pshychiatrist , and after doing the blood test and everything i had to do to convinvce myself i was ok with my health, i told him about my problems,and he diagnosted my having panic attacks. these started when i was getting stoned. i have to mention that i was waking up with the spliff in my hand,and going to bed the same way. when i realised this was getting serios ( 2 weeks ago) i quit smoking weed,because it was making things worst. my father prescribed me benzodiazepines for this, and everything is fine at the moment , but i'd like also to smoke a spliff or two when making music or at least at a party . i like weed ,i like the taste ,the effect,the mind expansion,the creativity ,but lately with theese panic attacks i can 't stand the paranoia and anxiety given from it.

my question is if anyone here has this problem (panic attacks), and being on benzos ,have they tried to smoke while on xanax or xanax like meds . is the benzodiazepine going to take the anxiety part away from the effect of the weed or is it going to be worst ?
NOTE : i don't have in mind smoking daily ever again.just ocasionally , and on benzos, if that is allright with the paranoia issue."

"i forgot to mention that i also asked my dad about it ,but romania being a third world country , psychiatryst are not as well traind into the drugs issue as in other countries. he told me the last thing he learned about soft drugs was from a book written in the 80's ,and in the communist era they didn't even take it into consideration .so he is confrunting with a lack of knowledge in this field. also told me that i might now a lot more about thc than he does , from reading on the internet.

ionusunt you could smoke with your benzo's and it should keep swiy from having panic attacks and paranoia, but swim would take a higher dose of swims benzo than swiys maintenence dose.

thx man ! so i understand swiy experienced panic attacks . that ;s the reason for swim posting here.i wanna know from swiy who had /has the same problems as swim has....

and another question. how did swiy get over theese panic issuse. would they stay forever if swim continues to smoke occasionally ? would it affect the treatment ?

L.E. : i take 1 xanax a day,at night ,on prescription of course,as treatment. swim shoul stay to that dose while smoking ?

Could swiy clarify swiys dosage of xanax, .5 mg or 1 mg?? because if 1 dose knocks you out, then that should be enough to remove the axienty that comes with weed.

Also swiy has a very weird script for axienty, most people swim knows who are scripted benzo's for axienty/insomnia get 3-4 doses a day to be taken as needed (panic attacks, axiety attacks) and usaully of a longer acting benzo such as diazpam or clonazapam. pm swim if you want, swim used to be in the same exact position.

SWIM just got ahold of two Xanax bars. SWIM loves to have these on hand for those times when SWIM gets a bad reaction from smoking cannabis.

Does anyone besides SWIM gets hungry when they take Xanax (before smoking pot)? SWIM always get very, very hungry... then SWIM smokes pot and gets even hungrier. SWIM ate so much junkfood last night and woke up with diarreah from all that sugar.

SWIM does not really get the munchies from benzos alone like xanax. SWIM is prescribed clonazepam and does not notice a appetite increase.

Good observation - this is a dynamic that is easily explainable at the neural level.

One might consider the brain as a massive fatty-protein characterized by a complex of relationships involving a balance of excitation vs. inhibition. The brain's job is to maintain a practical homeostasis - or keep the levels of excitation and inhibition appropriate - given the environment that the brain is presented.

On a very general scale, alprazolam acts to enhance inhibitory signals in the brain, thereby decreasing excitation. Appetite is a function that is also modulated by excitation and inhibition in the hypothalamus (lateral nucleus and medial regions of the hypothalamus to be specific). One way to perceive this system is: the excitatory processes in this area function to reduce appetite while inhibitory processes function to activate appetite (this is why digestion is tied to the parasympathetic division of the autonomic nervous system - we've evolved to eat while we're relax). Therefore, when one introduces more inhibition to this general area, appetite will be directly enhanced.

Once one introduces cannabis after a benzodiazepine has been ingested, amplified appetite is almost inevitable.

Before swim got his prescription for xanax he did seem to get really really really hungry when he took a bar or two and smoking some trees. Swim usually doesn't get hungry when he smokes either.
