Hey everyone, first day on the forums, first post. I've been kicking around the idea today about writing about popular figures who have admitted to using drugs. Mainly I want to look at presidents and hopefully it will turn out into a book. I would like opinions on the topic, as well as names of popular people that you know who have admitted to using. Thanks!

I think you have a wonderful idea, gicts. My favorite incident of a famous drug user is the case of Adolph Hitler. Multiple methamphetamine injections a day probably altered the course of WWII.

Lewis Carol was a fan of Amanitas, I believe. That'd be a good one to look into (do research to check if I'm right though).

It's said that the visual distortions present in Alices adventures in Wonderland are a reference to hallucinogen use. And what's with the caterpillar and his Hookah? www.Guardian.co.uk has some stories on Lewis Carroll and hallucinogens (but doesn't list sources) www.Erowid.org has a section on Lewis Carroll www.MAPS.org has some interesting bits and pieces However my personal favourites are: JFK and his mysterious "vitamin injections" Anthony Eden (British PM) who was on Dexedrine "continuously" (his quotes) during the Suez Crisis Queen Victoria who took large quantities of Laudanum for period pain Judy Garland: She was criticised about her weight by her studio, got addicted to amphetamines, and then to barbiturates. The bit about "admitting to using drugs" might cause you problems though!Edited by: jatelka |
