I't seems far more people are buying there bud then growing it, so if you smoke it but dont grow, why not grow?

It just seems to me either people don't know how to or think they'le have to buy really expensive equipment. It might take a while but surley the positives outnuber the negatives.

I know you have to be carful on sites like this but i think i adhere to the rules by posting this.

Anyway for anyone on here that smokes but doesn't grow, why?

Used to grow at the old place. But at the new place SWIM just
moved to, there is not (yet) anyplace that would keep the prying eyes
of nosy neighbors from seeing. SWIM has plans though . . .

SWIM doesn't grow because he doesn't have a good place to do it, and
he's lazy. Also, he has fairly good connections and always buys in
bulk, so pot doesn't cost that much for him.

I should really start growing myself because over the past year the standard of gear I'm buying has really decreased and frankly, it isn't worth it. I'm also spending way too much money buying off dealers. If I was still able to get some of that really great polm I was getting last year, I'd have no problem buying, but now I should really start cultivating something. Problem is, I'd be working on a tight budget. I wouldn't have the cash to buy lamps and accessories such as that. I'll have to look into researching strains to see which one would grow well in my situation: on a window-sill, under the natural light of the sun, no lamps.

Any suggestions for which strain would be best for this?

Growing stinks . . . literally.

Growing Pot seems like such a fun thing to do. But the last couple weeks before harvesting, those plants stink to high heaven (especially the 4-star strains).

Every year, in a lot of towns, people call the police: "I think something died." When the officer arrives, he knows that something is growing, not dying. If you are a medical marijuana grower, the cop just tells the neighbor: "He's doing something legal, learn to live with it for a few more days." If not, the plant goes, and maybe the grower too.

I would have to say, mostly because of the stress of getting caught. No one wants to get caught growing marijuana, although, i know...it should be legal, yet it's not. Growing causes you to worry every minute your not at home or not by the plants because you wonder who could be looking at them, or who might see and call the police. Just to be on the safe side, more people just buy.

But, yes...it would be cheaper and fun. Smoking marijuana that you grew yourself would probably be a very exciting exprience.

If Swim could get some seeds, he would.... or at least try to. He doesn't trust many sites.

I dunno if you all heard about it, but a site got taken down not so long ago(I dont think, could be wrong) and the DEA even sent fake letters to them!

Swim would like to grow and hopefully will do in the future sometime.

Swic loves to grow his own weed. Most of the weed inhis town is from commercial growers, always stinks like it was never flushed before harvest andsometimes comes with the lovely stench of brixx (you soak buds in it for extra weight, it cant be good for you).

Swic says the best part of growing is making bubble hash from the left overs, if swic makes enough he wont even bother thinking of smoking the green stuff.Edited by: cactus

I wonder if there is any way of masking the smell. I share a house with several people, most of whom wouldn't really mind apart from the landlord who's a bit of a hard-liner and doesn't even accept people doing drugs in front of him. Would the smell be so obvious that it would spread all over the house (considering the house is quite big and detached from any neighbouring buildings)...?

From experience, i dont understand exactly, what they mean by the "strong order"...it smells, but not enough to have someone thinking someone died..or knowing that there was marijuana growing without seeing the plant. It's not that easy unless to get caught unless someone see's the plants growing, i wouldn't be worried about the smell, i'd be worried about someone seeing the plants. Good luck, and have fun!

Outdoor Pot stinks so much, Ukiah votes to ban them.

This is in response to pharmapsyche'spost:"i dont understand exactly, what they [Cactus and I]mean by the "strong order" ... it smells, but not enough to have someone thinking someone died ... i wouldn't be worried about the smell."

I am not sure where pharma gets his info from, but a lot of other people ARE worried about the smell. Here is a snippet from the Ukiah newspaper, the Press Democrat (Jan. 21, 2005), about banning outdoor Pot gardens, because of the horrible stink around harvest time. Neighbors demanded that the City Council take action; the Council IS taking action.

Ukiah -- Cracking down on cannabis cultivation in a county with a pot-friendly reputation, the Ukiah City Council on Wednesday night tentatively approved an ordinance prohibiting backyard marijuana gardens.

Mendocino County's ubiquitous pot gardens have ... [been] generating complaints about the strong, skunk-like odor of blossoming marijuana plants.

Council members voted 4-0 in favor of the draft ordinance, which will next be subject to a hearing in front of the Ukiah Planning Commission. The ordinance would: Require a city permit to grow marijuana and limit growers to six plants in residential areas. Require all marijuana to be grown indoors. ...

Dale Gieringer of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, an pro-pot advocacy group, said San Diego is the only other city he knows that has placed limits on cultivation. It requires that medical marijuana be grown in a contained, secure area, he said. However, Willits and Fresno are in the process of drafting ordinances limiting [outdoor] medical marijuana gardens.

There are about 250 backyard medical marijuana gardens within the city, according to the Ukiah Police Department."Mendocino has always been an outdoor growing kind of county."Edited by: Solidly-here

with indoor growing its easy to mask the smell. carbon filters, ozone machines and even little packets of powder that absorb the smell with small cuboard set ups.

SWIM found 2 plants of his neighbours through his nose, he smelt it and followed the smell until it got really strong and then he just looked around until he found the plants, and this was some good shit, 3 bong bowls in the morning and i could hardly talk i was so stoned, way too stoned for class anyway

but i was wondering if there is a point in trying to grow the seeds that are in ur weed, when u buy some shit full of seeds, or if that is just a waste of time because half of them wont work or sumthing, most people order them online and they work good but i have like 200 seeds that i took out of some weed a while back and i was wondering if there is any point in attempting to grow them

Brixx? What the hay is that?

And flushing? I assume this is referring to not using a fertilizer for a while right before harvest?

Brixx is a solution you soak buds in to add extra weight, it makes the smoke taste a little nasty and if you leave buds soaking for too long it turns em black. I got no idea what its made from.basically aninexpensive way to add an extra 15-20% to the weight of a crop.

And yes flushing as in cleansing the plants with fresh water a few weeks before harvest. Commercial growers round here usually cant be bothered with it as the price of weed (in bulk) isnt affected by quality, it all goes by supply and demand.

Is there no one here old enough to where they've

Duh, yea. Yet another reason to either not do it or be very careful to
be well concealed. But also forfeiture can be for possession of
stuff bought elsewhere. And damn Patriot Act allows lots of
things not legal before, so wire taping, searches without warrant and
all sorts of ugly things are now possible.

Actually the question should be is anyone here old enough to be aware
of the days BEFORE forfeiture, as it is a relatively new and odious
trick that government in Amerika has up it's sleeves. Things are
much less free now than in the past, and getting less free by the day.
