Television Poll

hello all, I was thinking about television, which in many ways is a psychologically and socially addicting habit in most of our societies.

My sister begged my then-student parents for a set in the 70's. I grew up with television, yet gave it up totallya couple of years ago as i realised that i felt it was eating up mindspace by feeding me too much stuff i didn't need, hard to avoid when bored or tired. So i stashed the set in the basement.

Without necessarily entering the television good/bad debate, which is also higly dependent on the kind of programs you have access to, national, satellite, cable, the country you live in (hard to compare the old australian SBS, current japanese NHK and german-french ARTE with specialised cable channels for instance ), I was wondering how many of you people watch television on a regular basis ? From reading up on the forum, maybe the poll should be inverted :

how many people herehave given upwatching television (ie got rid of their set) andfor what reasons?
