When is it safe to redose? After 6 hours? 12? 24?

its safe to redose whenever you want, so long as you dont od, the question is when do you want to redose. the lethal dose of codeine for your average non-tolerant peroson is around 800mg. Stay away from high doses and you will be fine. Oh, and Codeine lasts for around 4-6 hours.

Peace,
Mike

Re: Codeine question

redosing with codeine too quickly can be rather pointless because codeine itself is a CYP2D6 inhibitor, and that is needed to convert the codeine into morphine...

aka, codeine inhibits codeine from being effective. It is much better to take the full dose as quickly as possible.

I am not certain how long this inhibition stays active, im assuming as long as the codeine is in your system.

Re: Codeine question

SWIM prefers to wait at least three days before using codeine twice. This way there's no need for an increase in dosage because the waiting period allows tolerance to decrease. Redosing soon shouldn't be a problem as said above although it's not exactly a wholesome habit to slip into.

Re: Codeine question

*agrees with above*

Don't get too used to it.

Anyhoo.... Lecture over. It's pointless redosing. Not totally, but practically worthless compared to waiting a day or so and having a better nod then.
