ModaOO left a very educated, caring post that anyonne caught up into addiction should take heed of. Eventually the warm and fuzzy becomes impossible to catch and all that happens is a higher amount with the associated Tolerance and risks. SWIM has been there and has had members doubt the meds SWIM has isted as part of use and abuse. Still this forum is about safe dosages for the novice. If SWIY has a true chronic pain situation then there are other avenues to follow such as the pump SWIM has embedded in SWIM's abdomen that is sending 25mgs. of Morphine to SWIM's spine every 24/7. That would be at least 2500mgs. of oral Morphine and obviously SWIM would be in trouble at that level.
SWIM feels once a fellow sojourner has crossed over to addiction abstinence is often the only true course to feedom and the safety it provides.

thanks for all the great info... really helps! I'm not sure if I am smoking the fentanyl correctly? this is what I've been doing: place the gel on a spoon... spread it out and wait for about 10 minutes...heat very slowly with a lighter (holding the lighter about 3-5 inches from the bottom of the spoon)... then scrap the crystals off and place in my pipe and smoke it... I can hardly feel the smoke go in but then in about a minute I can feel the effects

SWIM thinks that the section on loperamide should be revised. Based on a recent experiment on SWIM that SWIM had conducted last night, SWIM now believes that loperamide definitely has recreational potential. SWIM dosed 90 millligrams or 45 pills of Immodium and can definitely say that SWIM had quite a nice buzz going that was very distinguishable from a placebo effect. It lasted all day and was comparable to about 22.5 mg of hydrocodone with little to no tolerance. It is now the day after and all SWIM has is a headache and possibly constipation. Has anyone else tried an amount comparable to this dose or is it just SWIM?

SWIM has just started a liquid methadone script of 30mg, in order to help him quit his poppy pod habit. A bit unusual he knows. Can anyone give him a rough indication of the usual dosages of meth for people quitting a habit.
It has to be said that he was taking massive dosages of poppy straw, up to 100 grams, but he is really struggling on this dose of meth. Should he be on a higher dose?

To answer the above first. . . .

Generally 30mg/100ml (if in liquid) is a fairly usual starting dosage. Some countries even have that as the mandatory starting dosage and increase it by 5mg from there. In diagnosis the treating doctor would normally assess ones habit and start on a dosage accordingly. SWIM knows of a few people whom have started out on 80mg to 120mg methadone, but these people were using anywhere from half a gram to a gram a time of Heroin, multiple times most days when they could support it.

To achieve these dosages with poppy tea would take some damn good tea indeed, or a hell of a lot of liquid.

This begs the question, why go on methadone at all? One would be more inclined to take less and less dosages (or weaker dosages) of the tea than go on methadone. If one were to do just tea and reduce it in increments over a period of time, jumping off completely should not be a problem . . a 2 week annoyance at best having none at all.

However, methadone is notorious for its come down and is actually responsible for more OD's than Heroin itself. Most people describe coming off Methadone as a 2 to 3 month chore rather than a 2 week to a month annoyance.

anyway we are getting off topic here, i will now pose my concern about a few of the posts at the start of the thread.

- One noticed that a few people were stating that ODing on heroin was usually from influence of other substances or dropping tolerance and still taking regular dosage.

THIS IS MOST CERTAINLY NOT THE CASE!

- One has had a lot of friends that have either died from Heroin OD or just OD'd with subsequent recovery because of fluctuating potency alone. A good batch comes in, the person takes their normal dosage and because of the excessively increased quality . . they drop.

- Of course the other reasons are very real and very valid, but they are not the ONLY reasons.

Just to answer SWIY's question as to why methadone instead of tea.
Firstly SWIM seldom, if ever, makes poppy tea, rather he just grinds the pods up and ingests them, which makes it a longer lasting high and probably increases the chances of experiencing nasty withdrawls.
He has been doing this for 5 months or so, daily, so in effect he has a pretty serious habit. He also takes anywhere between 60-100 grams of poppy powder so he has a genuinely high tolerance. He knows this now because meth seems pretty mild to him, at least on the dosage he is on.
Whether he would have just been better detoxing from poppies, rather than starting meth is something he will only discover in time, but hopefully he will be able to taper off meth before he acquires a real dependance to it.
Sorry for getting off the topic of doses. He guesses 30mg is probably quite a normal dose to be started on, particularly for a non-heroin addict.

20-30mg is the generally recommended dosage to start even most chronic addicts on. RXlist says that the initial starting dosage should not exceed 40mg. Some places are legally bound by this as legislation.

What about adding alpha-methyl-fentanyl to the fentanyl analogs ??? It is supposed to be the most common recreational fentanyl analog as far as SWIM's research indicates.

I have heard of people who were using A HALFOUNCE of heroin a day!!!!!! I know it sounds really unbelievable..but this guy had done 8 years inside for the bank robberies that he was doing to supplement the dealing that he was doing to support his habit...plus bullshit artists generally have a never ending supply of 'stories', & this guy had only ONE, & the details of it NEVER changed in all the times he told it to me....

SWIM isnt to clear about this. Swim has acquired a patch of Fentanyl. 12 mcg/hr transdermal system. Each transdermal system contains 1.28 mg fentanyl. Swim is rather nervous to use fentanyl. In the past few days swim has alerted me he has taken 45 mg of hydrocodene with no stomach pain or anything other then a nice feeling. Taken as direceted will the fentanyl be too stong? Is it possible that the patch could be used another way for more desirable effects (in the repliers opinon ofcourse) Swim really wants to be safe with this. Swim thanks for the help ^_^

Swims personal experience is that she acquired fentanyl patches made to work for 3 days if taken as directed (work meaning to make the pain go away, not for recreational use). It was not the kind with the gel just a patch. She was instructed by a friend to cut it in half and chew on it/put it under the tongue etc for as long as she can stand. So swim did this and got a little something but not what she expected. On the other hand, swim knew an old sailor who was very opiate tolerant. But he chewed a whole one and was OUT OF IT. Dancing in the street with his cane etc.
Swim believes there are many posts on this forum that discuss different types of fentanyl patches and how swimmers use them. Swim doesnt know what kind of patch it is that swiy has so dont go popping them how swim and the old man did.

SWIM is on 45mg Methadone, but has never taken heroin before. How much would he need to smoke to acheive desired effects on top of his meth? Is he right in assuming one needs more when smoking, than if one were to inject?

Not sure if this has been discussed earlier in the thread since didnt read it but nicomorphine dose is WAY OFF it is 2-3x morphine a first tome user could die on 20-30mg, 5-10mg is considered the start dose.

For Heroin the ED50 rises as usage continues. the LD50 rises slowly to a point then stops. That is why that last good fix kills you.
