Track marks and excuses people have used

out of sheer curiousity swim asks all iv drug users; what excuses has swiy tried when/if someone commented on needle marks and/or scars from using, and have any of them worked?

SWIM recently had blood drawn, and after about a year of poorly executed iv drug use she has very obvious scars, left to heal for about a month prior to bloodwork. when she pulled up her sleeve instead of the usual disgust the phlebotomist asked her sympathetically (of all tones) "what did they do to you?", on the spot and a bad liar swim murmered about self-inflicted, and hung her head while they finished up. anyone care to shed light on this surprising reaction? any similar stories?

Post Quality Evaluations:
Excellent thread topic, can't believe no one has done it yet. Points for innovation.

Re: Track marks and excuses people have used

I think even after the scars heal the hardness of the vein (underneath the skin) gives us all away. I have regular blood tests (once a month, but sometimes more frequently) and I've found that being honest is always the best way. Cos usually when Sparkles tells them she's a recovering addict they will usually tell her she's done well, and that she has nothing to be ashamed of.

She's tried all the usual excuses, car accident, fell through a plate glass window...even illness that needed regular blood work, but they know. So now she doesn't even attempt to hide it. I'm kinda proud, cos these scars and thrombosed veins stand as a testament to what Sparkles has been through and overcome.

Never feel bad love, cos no one should or can judge you, not unless they've lived your life. And medical professionals should know this better than anyone.

Sparkles.

Re: Track marks and excuses people have used

SWIM donates plasma every once in a while to a biological facility where they ship off to different places so he has a permenant scar on his arm. SWIM just doesn't pay much attention to it and doesn't get much paid back.

A family member of SWIMs used heroin for a long period of time way back in his younger days. His marks are very visible to this day and if you ask him he will tell you it was from heroin. There is no hiding it really.

Re: Track marks and excuses people have used

this seems like an obvious one, but has swiy ever used concealer/foundation any type of makeup that matches your skin? works great for swim. and at nighttime rub from vitamin e oil (but make sure its rubbed in good so it's saturated into the skin). vitamin e is great for healing scars. when swim has new track marks that are bluish and swims mother sees it swim just tells her it was from the past.

in addition, proper insertion/ejection of the syringe can somewhat prevent scarring. make sure needle is at an angle, (obviously), release the tie (so swiy does not have all that pressure just popping out), and release syringe slowly and gently. its all about patience.

The Cat used "that Adapters" for a few Years everyday a few Times.

This is something many People don't understand,
a shot or maybe even 100 or even 500 will not damaged so much
but how much are 100 Shot's, maybe only a one month supply!

If People are straight on Heroin 1.000 Shots in one Year is normal or the minimum and this will damage everything
