I believe it was Shulgin or McKenna who said that if MDMA were buried with the pharaohs in the pyramids, it would still be active today.

I reckon binders may degrade or absorb moisture.

Yea I have heard that quote somewhere too. Phenethylamines seem to be really stable and MDMA is supposedly uber stable. Just keep it somewhere away from sunlight and extreme heat to be safe and it should last longer than you.

i put some MDMA on my shelf - about 500mg worth or 5 pills, kept in dry, ambient conditions. a week later, and there was no detectable MDMA left on the shelf at all.

therefore, i presume the shelf life of MDMA to be less than a week.

now, if someone could tell me why my country and western lovin' roommates are now playing "house" music?

i had 2 on my shelf for over 3 months each, and they bothed worked perfectly

Thats good because swims stashing a particualy significant, symbolic
and metaphoric pill untill a time when someone special is able to
consume it... there was alot of fucking drama around this particular
pill and it would be nice if it was still active.

But i think it wont matter much cause that time should be soon...

Well I was discussing this on another forum, and I took to Google to find the answer... After a bit of research (And coming across this thread), I found this on Erowid, which confirms what some people have said with a bit more detail.

A: Both MDMA and 2C-T-7 are phenethylamines. In general, the phenethylamines as a class are quite stable molecules.

Peyote buttons which are hundreds or even thousands of years old have been found by archaeologists and analyzed in labs, and these buttons still contained about the same ammount of mescaline as you would expect to find in a freshly dried button. Alexander Shulgin has remarked that if MDMA had existed in the time of the pharaohs and buried in the pyramids, it would still be good today. Regarding 2C-T-7, I asked Dr. Shulgin about its shelf life and he remarked that he once analyzed a 15 year old sample of the chemical and found that it had degraded very little, if any.

MAPS has a supply of MDMA for research that was manufactured by Dr. David Nichols and subsequently stored in a safe at Purdue University. When Dr. Nichols tested this supply for purity in 1994 -- eight years after it was synthesized -- it showed no indication of deterioration.

If stored in a cool, dry and closed container such as an amber glass vial (avoid excessive heat, light or moisture), its safe to assume that MDMA and 2C-T-7 will both last longer than you will.
