And that's not something I feel I need to hide from my family.

"What would happen though if you impregnated a girl while tripping? Would that increase the chances or your kid having problems." My sister-in-law was tripping when she got pregnant and the child (now 16) seems fine. LSD causes very minor chromosome breakage...along the same lines as a dose of aspirin. All the hype about damaging your chromosomes was just more government propaganda put out by people that knew better. |

LSD does NO harm to your Chromosomes. Panamapaul has part of the story right: "All the hype about damaging your chromosomes was just more government propaganda put out by people that knew better." Yes, Uncle Sam has been lying his ass off about the physical and psychological side-effects of Drugs for decades now (demonizing them). So, with all of his lies, it's sometimes difficult to know where the truth is. Panama supposes: "LSD causes very minor chromosome breakage...along the same lines as a dose of aspirin." Well, this is not true. I have read scientific papers, and they say that very few things have the ability to damage Chromosomes (and LSD is not one of them). Aspirin does not break Chromosomes ... and neither does LSD. |

The chromosome story was based on a US government (surprise!) funded study back in the late 1960's. The <koff!> researcher put some LSD25 into a test-tube with some chromosomes and proceeded to bring it to a boil. Yes - he boiled it in a water solution. This was not mentioned in the hysteria that followed. They also left out another minor detail: The water solution also contained sodium hydroxide. That's lye. Drain-O. Liquid Plumber. NaOH. And, yes, a few of the chromosomes did not survive this treatment. Nor would hair, grease, toenail clippings, or other things that can clog up a drain. A similar study was done a few years back with MDMA being announced as causing brain damage. Once again our pals in Washington left out a minor detail: They did not use MDMA in their study. They used methamphetamine. A minor oversight, I'm sure. If you ever get invited to dinner at these people's house and decide to attend, I'd suggest you bring your own food. They likely have rat poison in their salt shakers and serve wood alcohol out of bottles marked Merlot. You don't want to know what the prime rib really is/was. |

How do they have such flaws in their studies? Did the use XTC pills that just happened to be methamphetamine or what? Thats the only thing I could imagine. I have heard the same about the chromosome damage study. Thats pretty lame and not very scientific if you ask me. Its suprising that the government is actually involved in studies like that. I honestly thing SWIM and a group of friends could conduct a better study with more accurate results and they dont have access to 1/1,000,000,000 the funds or the equpiment that the goverment does. Such a shame. They could be doing studies that would actually benefit mankind, maybe try to see what these drugs are actaully doing and the potential they hold instead of conducting bunk studies and telling everyone that their brain will look like swiss cheese if they injest "x" chemical. Sometimes SWIM is ashamed he is an American, some people have to mess things up for everyone.

"In 1968, Jarvik et al. (63) tried to replicate some of the in vitro experiments of Cohen's group. In addition to LSD, they used as testing substances ergonovine (a drug commonly used in obstetric practice), aspirin, and streptonigrine. They found a higher incidence of chromosome breaks in the LSD samples (10.2 percent with the range 0.0-15.0) as compared to the control samples (5.2 percent with the range from 0.0-9.0). They found, however, approximately the same breakage rate with aspirin (10.0 percent) and ergonovine (9.6 percent)." excerpt from the following link: Effects of LSD on Chromosomes, Genetic Mutation, Fetal Development and Malignancy by Stanislav Grof: http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/lsd/grofchro.htm |

LSD for life here. I've done LSD since I was 14, I am now 24. I realize that it did a lot to my personality... in a lot of ways LSD molded it. It took what was already there and magnified it. So I think I can be a bit extreme at times, and just downright nuts..... but I don't have a mean bone in my body. And interestingly enough, any person I know who is into LSD in a serious fashion is really non-violent. I think LSD is such a great tool..... I will definately be using it off and on throughout the rest of my life. DMT is another story entirely. I don't think DMT should be played with much because you can be thrusted into some very traumatic scenarios. Two of my friends have already hit the mental ward (for a few days each) after SWIM introduced them to DMT. I don't even recommend DMT to anyone who is not a seriously spiritual and positive person...... in other words..... a shaman or neo-shaman of sorts. |

LSD and just about any other truly psychedelic drug, either natural or synthetic in the phenethylamine or tryptamine realms, have been SWIM's occasional good friends for the past 34 (age 14 to 48) years. So has pot. SWIM imagines they will always be his friends when the occasion is right for it, no matter how old he gets. Most people who don't know about SWIM's facination with these drugs, seem to think SWIM is the most down to earth person around. SWIM did abuse LSD for a while in his youth, buying 1000 hits, selling off 6 or 7 hundred of them, and eating all the rest himself. SWIm came to realize though, that less is definetely more. Taking LSD or any drug too often causes it to loose the magic and just become another nasty habit. Spacing out ones trips over long periods of time makes the trips you have all the more special and enjoyable. SWIM does not believe that all the heavy daily abuse of LSD he did for a 2 year period in his youth has caused him any permanent harm (other than making him flunk out of high school physics class ). And SWIM will definitely do all these types of drugs on occasion the rest of his life, he is fairly certain of that.Edited by: BrugmansiaBrujo |
