SWIM started to use promethazine in higher than sleep-aid-dosages. Now he is at 200mg from liquid drops. He takes it with 1-2mg of alprazolam. It may sound strange but he likes the effects of the promethazine even more than the ones of benzos. The quick onset of the promethazine with its extreme sedation and the complete loss of memory. The next day SWIM remembers nothing.

Question. Has SWIY made any experiences like the one above? What dosage did SWIY take?

Swims pet fish started taking it after being locked up in psych ward where they had decided to use promethazine as PRN instead of benzo's, as the fish had never heard of it before, they were very surprised to find it was a otc med, so on discharge went to the local chemists to get some, Oh we don't like to sell these said the lady behind the counter, people abuse them you know, what, never, fish just want em for travel sickness.

Oh what did the psych ward start, if they had stuck to benzos as prn swims fish would never have know what fun they could be (if you like spending all day in a dopy haze) which swims fish find better than reality.

Had so far persuaded the fish from taking anymore than 50mgs in a go as had heard it could cause unpleasant effects in higher doses, am i mis-informing the poor things?

Just my 2 cents but swim finds promethazine more effective then dph for insomnia, he`s never experimented with high doses though!

Swim has spent many days in a nice promethazine daze and he finds the anti-anxiety properties a bonus BUT get this for weird ........
SWim was a crack cocaine Addict for many years and one day he ran out of money,so looking for a free buzz he remembered he had some phenergan(promethazine)elixir in the bathroom cabinet.

Swim took the reccomended dosage for sedation and waited for it to kick in.When it took hold of him he felt relaxed and very comfortable with his state and noticed that the terrible urge to smoke crack had subsided to nothing.Swim just thought that this was probably due to the effects of the promethazine overwhelming the cravings for crack.Anyway as time went on and the effects of the promethazine wore off he noticed that even tho he had thoughts of smoking crack ,they were only just thoughts and not the horrible feelings of something missing from his life.This carried on into the next day.

Wanting to do a little experiment the following day SWim decided to take only a small dose,only enough to sooth allergies and he was shocked that the terrible cravings for the rock had completely gone again.for the whole day and night.
surely this wasnt a psychosomatic or placebo effect?
Surely there was more to this.
When Swim finaly came into a bit of money he decided to go to the pharmacy and get some more promethazine,this time it was in tablet form (25mg)
Swim took one 25mg tablet in the morning every day for a whole week and was amazed by the fact that he only had passing thoughts about smoking crack and not a single urge or craving.
Swim knew that doing that every day can't be that good for him so he decided to try and only take it when his cravings became uncontrollable.It ended up to be roughly every other day for a week and a half then his cravings only came on once in two or three days so he dropped his use even more.
Now Swim doesnt take promethazine for his crack addiction anymore because his cravings are so far and few between and they are not as bad/strong as they were.Swim has found other methods of coping due to joining a relapse prevention course and this has proved very helpfull too.
Swim found that when he rarely gets a craving for crack ,he now has a fall back plan.....he uses snortable "bath salts" and has a small stash for emergencies (usually when swim is drunk lol).
SWim has been off the crack cocaine for a full month now and he intends to stay off it forever.SWim doesn't see that using legal highs on rare occasions is as if he is swapping one drug for another,he has just found a novel way out of a nasty nasty Addiction.
Soon swim will get bored of drugs all together and he will get a new life.

What swim would like to know is : A)Has he descovered a new therapy that could help other crack addicts get off of that nasty drug?
B) has any other swimmers found that promethazine takes away any other cravings.?

Swim would like to look further into this discovery because the effects on his crack Addiction were completely substantial if not amazing!
promethazine has saved swim from a life of misery.
Swim believes promethazine should be looked into by drugs rehabilitation professionals as a possible method of controling cocaine addiction.


SWIM would like to hear some feedback on this and also to see other swimmers opinions and thoughts on this matter.......The effects on lessening even completely removing cravings for crack cocaine were so dramatic that something has to be done about it.

PS.Swim also looks at what happened to him as if it might just be his state of mind,and also understands that what works for some might not work for others.
It doesn't harm swim if he believes he has discovered something amazing,b ut what would harm swim is if some other swimmer tried his method and became sick because of promethazines abuse potential.

swim just called me about the recrtional uses of Promethazine

Swimmy used 125 mg of Promethazine

Effects:
No delirum or visual halluctions
The most disburting auditory hallunctions swimmy has had,swimmy heard 100 of diffrent voices at the same time talking to each other , the noise was so high it was almost unberable for swimmy
No long term memory loss but a complete loss of short term memory, swimmy spent hours just trying to remember that he needed to take a piss , it took swimmy more then a hour to light a cigarette

Swimmy will never touch Promethazine again and neither should you

Promethazine is primarily prescribed for nausea in the US- it's anticholinergic action prevents motion sickness, and when combined with ephedrine (a noradrenalin/mild dopamine stimulant) it'll counter the sedative effects, working somewhat better than meclizine. It's also sold as a sleep aid, it's relation to thorazine means that it's got some antianxiety properties (I in fact bought it for when I had trouble sleeping while on deployment in the military due to anxiety).

SWIM tells me, however, that it can be abused, with some interesting results. Like any anticholinergic antihistamine, SWIM says it will boost most opiate highs. SWIM says that while low and moderate doses resemble antihistamines like benadryl, high doses (250mg, equipotent to 25mg thorazine and tarditive controlling anticholinergics), produces very strange effects depending on mood and mindset. These included for swim- pinpoint pupils, somnolescense, dead-trout look (jaw dropping), extreme sedation and lack of anxiety, and oddly enough, reminded swim of twilight sleep induced by morphine and scopolamine. Other times SWIM tried it, it would produce a heavy "pressing feeling" and an inability to stand up or move around, similar to the term "chemical restraints". Swim has used it in combination with benadryl and kratom for a very sedating high.

All in all, we think promethazine is a fairly promising drug but for very particular uses (gotta find a good use for it).

SWIM takes promethazine every day and 250mg were the highest dose. Passed out about 15minutes after taking - with 2mg alprazolam.
SWIM thinks all over 200mg is too much.
