ok we all know about those "disorders" that doctors and shrinks around
label on kids. what do you think about them? i have several freinds on
drugs because they have ADD and ADHD and i my self have been labeled
has having ODD (opisitional defience disorder) its like when you get in
trouble because you know the rules and morals and code of things and
recognize them but then do things your way cuz you want to and it
usually involves stepping out of line to do so. i have been in
and out of school since sixth grade. i can admit that i dont like the
way things are and i know the rules more then alot of people. i can
actually admit to meeting the criteria for this disorder and i have
been on meds for it before. the thing is that are the doctors just
labeling everyday childhood actions as disorders? are people simply
living the way that their mind seems best to live? are these drugs just
limiting us more and trying to fit us into some robotic uniform zombie
naiton? i dont belive in these theorys personally, but i have been to
meetings of many active protesters and such of certain beliefs. im sure
you guys can conjur up something to say about this.

peace

my personal views on the topic are incredibly hypocrtitical. from a
drug use point of view, i love that amphetamines are prescribed for
"ADD" which is just sort of a bullshit condition that half of american
youth could fit the requirements for. i like it because i can easily
get amphetamines and ritalin from people i know with prescriptions. but
from a point of view of a responsible person i think it is incredibly
irresponsible of our health care system to diagnose these disorders and
prescribe these "medications". as many of you on this forum know all
too well, adderal, prescribed for ADHD, is straight amphetamines. what
constitutes ADHD? a kid not liking school? so this kid doesnt like
school, we should instruct him to take speed on a daily basis. a really
shit idea IMO.

Many kids diagnosed with ADD or ADHD are not, but some are. I take 10-20mg amphetamine to help with studying, staying on task, and staying awake! I am not ADD or ADHD as far as my knolage goes

amphetamine is a legit medication that has alot of advantiges, I started using amphetamine for school around my Jr. year and my only regret is that i didnt get it sooner! I have seen some kids, teenagers, and adults whos theraputic amphetime use had made a tremendous diffrence in their lifes. There are alot of kids that without amphetamine would not be able to do as well in school or go to collage. Amphetamine REALLY helps people acedemicly.

Better living (and studying) with Methamphetamine.

The_Great is not happy with his ODD "Disease": "Are these drugs just limiting us more, and trying to fit us into some robotic uniform zombie nation?"

While I think everyone should be able to live their life in their Unique way, EVERY society has "Rules" of acceptable behavior. For instance, (1) go to an Islamic country, (2) stand on a soap-box on a street corner, and (3) start shouting pro-Israel slogans. Soon you will be sitting in a jail cell.

Fortunately, most countries are not so demanding of a particular point-of-view. The USA allows pretty-much all political viewpoints. But, for kids, going to school is learning what some (possibly brain-dead) School Board wants them to learn. Fair or not, that's the way it is. So, the Game is: This is what the Board wants you to learn ... so learn it. (Many years ago, I actually ran for the local School Board.)

Many kids go bonkers with this format. Some of them are ADD or ADHD. Doctors correctly diagnose many of those children. But they do not have the time (inclination, correct tests) to properly diagnose everyone. So, when in doubt, give the kids some amphetamine, and see how things go. If the kid comes back a month later, and is feeling better (or, tells the Doctor that he's feeling better), then the Speed prescription gets renewed (and renewed, and renewed).

This type of Medicine-giving helps people like Polloloco (since amphetamines are Schedule 2, right up there with Cocaine and Morphine, and require the Doctor to fill out the prescriptions in triplicate, one copy going to the DEA). So, the kid can make his parent happy (he's "Taking" his medicine), and his friends happy (I'm taking his medicine, and boy it is good). These mis-diagnosed kids are helping their friends, the ones who really want the amphetamines. Everyone wins.

If a kid does not want to buy-into the usual School bill-of-fare, he can get expelled, and go to Continuation School. This is a lot more relaxed, and less interested in Algebra and Geometry. Or if that kid doesn't want to go to School at all, he can just do something outrageous, and get kicked out of Contin.

I personally think it is useful to learn to read and write, and know a little basic Math. Most of the rest of it SHOULD be optional (and in a perfect World it would be).

When my Grandma went to School, most kids only went to the 8th Grade (a good idea). In most Islamic countries, only boys go to School. I can't believe that the leaders are so retarded as to force all of its females into life-long illiteracy, but that is for another Post.

They want you to learn what they want you to learn. Of course they'll give you drugs if it helps their cause.

I'm not at all dissaponited or unhappy with their dignostion of me
having this disorder because time and time again i abuse my
perscription. i dont question the
way that they want kids to function or behave but rather i question why
a society or group of people or anything would label a kid with having
something that in most cases cripples the behavior of this said kid.
when i do get kicked out of school i go in front of my local school
boards Discipline commitee and they pass judgment upon me as if i had
raped their daughters and slain a thousand jews. living in a small
town, the word gets out that a kid does certain things and when these
people hearing these things happens to be 4 out of of my
teachers, they seem to gain a different look on me. i do realize though
that i may just be some fucked up kid that has an opinion on life and
society of america that could otherwise be unexpressed.even after the
fact of me aknowledging that i have to do certain things in life, I
still feel a little uneasy that the one word from a person can change
the life of someone in every detail and moment. just because they have
spent money to go to college and time to make the right freinds they
now are some how better then the kid that gets kicked out of school.

but my solution to the friction between my veiws and the veiws of the
authoritized people i face, is a strong dose of some enjoyable
psycadelics and to sit back and realize how minascul (sp) certain things are. after a recent trip into my inner mind i have settled many things. ease your mind and you shall ease your life

peace
