possible to convert DPT Hcl to freebase ?

Hi ,


Does anyone know if its possible to easily convert the DPT hcl salt to a freebase oil for smoking? If not can I just vaporize the salt and get the same effect as smoking the freebase?

Yeah you can just vaporize the hcl , althoughit's really not as intence as smoking the freebase kind.


Here's a baking soda tek to convert DPT hcl into Freebase.
Base conversion of DPT.
I have converted many grams this way, while the procedure is optimal for 40-200+mg as described it can be scaled easily. The end result produces nearly pure DPT base & takes less than 5 mins.

Take a teaspoon & place desired amount of baking soda (I use ~¼-1\3 vol of DPT to be converted). Put about 2.5ml water in, or about 2\3rds full. Heat gently for ~15 sec over a gas flame...enough to get at least some of the soda into solution...sometimes poking with a toothpick helps. Next the DPT is added...I usually put in 15-50mgs at a time & wait for the reaction to finish. The reaction is finished when the DPT oil has a homogenous surface & C02 generation has ceased. Sometimes a few more seconds over the flame is needed during this time to expedite things.

Once you've gotten the desired amount of DPT base & the reaction is complete take an ice cube on the bottom of the spoon for 20-30+seconds. The DPT will become quite viscous & sometimes crystalline looking...the colder the better.

If you desire the most pure product take the freezing spoon & dump* the water currently in it out - then place a few drops of cool water on it...swish around...this gets out unreacted soda. Afterward you can blow on the spoon & blast any remaining water out.

*If you are a miser you can save the milky solution of soda & atomized base in water in a separate vial...it will precipitate out in a day or two. Usually only a few mgs is lost this way.

Otherwise you can take the cold spoon & twirl the thick molasses like DPT up with a screwdriver. Use a fingernail to get the DPT stuck to the spoon out. I usually keep a clean computer heatsink handy & smear it all on the back. Alternately the base can be kept in a syringe in a solution of isopropyl alcohol for easy measured deposition on carrier material.

Practice makes perfect but even if you are careless you can still get a great yield in a short amount of time. If done right you can get 98%+ conversion & perhaps only a speck of soda or water in the final product.<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urnchemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" />

This one is a litte more tricky for some.

Conversion of Hcl salt to freebase:
2g of DPT Hcl was dissolved in 150ml of water. It was difficult to get the crystals to go into solution and it required a small amount of heat. Be careful not to apply too much heat, as DPT is very heat sensitive. Once the DPT was in solution the water mixture was added to a separatory funnel and ammonia hydroxide was then added dropwise to basify. After each drop I swirled the mixture to distribute the ammonia evenly, observing a white cloud of freebase forming out of solution. When it reached a ph 8-9, I added 75ml of chloroform. This mixture was swirled and thoroughly shaken for about 5-10 minutes with the chloroform layer settling on the bottom. The chloroform extraction was then poured off and saved in a flask. This process was repeated 3 more times, with each extraction requiring additional ammonia hydroxide to keep the ph level at 8-9. The last extraction was left to sit for 5 hours just to make sure that all of the DPT was recovered from the water solution. The combined chloroform extractions were then evaporated in a baking dish leaving a semi-clear-white DPT freebase oil behind. 2g of finely ground dried parsley was added to the baking dish and scraped and thoroughly mixed with a razor blade until the parsley was completely saturated. The mixture was still somewhat sticky but relatively easy to handle. It was then placed in a glass vial for easy use and storage. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urnchemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" />

Swimthinksthe best way to smoke DPT oil is to first place 20 to 40+mgs into a shot glass. Then add a few drops of everclear in with the oil.After thatadding your favorite smoking material such as cannabis, parsley or whatever you want to smoke!


All you have to do now is let it dry. After it is dried, placethematerial into your pipe, holda flame just above the bolw, inhale~ offto other world you go!

how do you weigh the oil in mg? like use a tare on the scale? wouldnt ml make more sense?

Swim puts a little cannabis on his scale to be used,then tared it. He then used a proto pipe poker (thin metal stick) todip/pick up some oil from the DPT vial. He then just let it drip onto the cannabis. Swims poker roughly all ways drips a 20 to 22mg drop. So he usually drips two drops into a shot glass then adds a few drops of the alcohol; mixes it with his poker then adds a little cannabis or parsley. This absorbs the liquid DPT. Then just let it completely dry, it don't take to long.

SWIM is getting some DPT freebase today, and he will probably just smoke it in a base pipe like he does with DMT. Nice methods for making base though, SWIM will definitely give one of these a try if he gets DPT hcl. If you dont want to convert it you can smoke the HCL. SWIM placed some in a glass base pipe and held the lighter under the glass. SWIM started inhaling and got a huge hit. One hit was enough. SWIM didnt expect it to work so well, he couldnt even hold the pipe up for another hit. It felt a lot like DMT w/o entity contact, just lots of enlightment and nice visuals. Edited by: raven3davis

was just wondering an above post mentioned useing baking soda but was wondering can you use bicarbonate of soda to freebase like you would with coke.

yeah but it takes more volatization, more heat, more possibility of you vaporizing what you wanted to begin with. bicarbonate of sodium is base enough to nuetralize the muriatic acid ion but its gonna take some heat, patience, and careful planning and timing on the person in question's part.

i found a real easy way to freebase dpt hcl. i just add a certain amount of DPT HCl to a small amount of water and add 1/7th by mass NaOH. i do this in a very small plastic or glass container. it instantly gobs up into a ball of dpt freebase and can easily be removed by sticking it to a stir rod. the rest of the water can be put in the oven on a glass plate and scraped after the water evaporates, just keep the oven temperature low. the end product is a ball of freebase that will have some water and NaCl in it but smokes great in a base pipe or light bulb. you can place that in the oven too to make it more solid. i just keep it in foil or a pill bottle/vial.

^ Even easier. Dissolve DPT hydrochloride in ethanol or isopropanol (may require a bit of heat). Also dissolve NaOH in isopropanol or ethanol (1g in 200ml then store in airtight plastic container). For every 30mg of DPT hydrochloride you need 5mg of NaOH to fully convert it to freebase. For say 300mg of DPT in solution in 30ml of isopropanol or ethanol you'll require 10ml of the above alcoholic NaOH solution (1g in 200ml = 5mg/ml. 300mg DPT.HCl requires 50mg NaOH which works out at 10ml of solution). You simply mix them together, warm the solution and leave it for an hour. In the space of that hour the DPT.HCl + NaOH converts to DPT (freebase) and NaCl (plus a tiny - insignificant - amount of water). NaCl is common salt and is utterly insoluble in alcohol, so it makes the liquid appear cloudy. You don't even need to remove the NaCl to smoke it as it's inert at the temp used to vapourize DPT freebase.

So once you've had them mixed for an hour, you can just evaporate off a desired volume (which will contain a known amount of DPT) until there'sonly a small amount of alcohol left. You then pour this into the freebase pipe and evaporate off the last bit of alcohol using something like a hairdryer. The resulting residue is then ready to blow your socks off.

This method will work with ANY hydrochloride salt as they're all souble in alcohol to some degree. It will not work with sulphate or phosphate salts though, so you have to convert them the long and boring way!

^ There's always some part of the NaOH that won't react and will be in the final product. Shouldn't that be something to worry about?
