Ritalin Snorted = Lung Damage?

SWIM has been snorting ritalin for a while now(about a month), usually 5 to 20mgs every 2 hours or so at school (not everyday)and more on weekends. Just recently SWIM has started coughing/wheezing from snorting. HAs SWIM destroyed His mucus membranes to the point where some of it is going straight to his lungs instead of being caught by mucus?

i had the same problem at one point in time. there is so much of ritalin's insolubles coating your nose that it acts like a straw just pulling it through your nose instead of catching it like a normal nose would. tilt your head back, put some water in one nostril and let it settle for a few seconds and then lightly blow out that nostril... repeat several times in both and thenblow your nose hard. after this, shove a tissue up there and twist it around a few times...after that, you should be good for another 20,000 miles. also, im not sure if this is true for methylphenidate(ritalin) as well, but amphetamines do cause some small amounts of lung damage not only from powder lung, but also from its standard bronchiodialating action.

for a particle to actually enter the lungs in must have a diameter <10 um,that is the chance that youve damaged your lungs is extremely low,worry bout yer nose instead

SWIM saidyou should take your tablets attenta,ritalin what ever it is and dissolve it in 3ml of hot water. you need a 5ml or 10ml barrel syringe and 5 reguler rolly ciggarett filters. Stuff the filters in the 10ml and pour or suck upyour ritalin/water solution in the 10ml and squirt it onto the back of a dinner plate, it should be clear to clearish kind of cloudy... any one of those.
turn your smallest stovehotplate (glasstop)don lowestsetting and place your plate carefully on the hotspot (plate must be supported by 3-4 egg-ringsor similar so the plate sitsabout 3cm abovethe surface)
if it starts to boil lift the plate till it cools a little, keep heating till the water has evaporated and then scrape the remaining powder up and that is ritalin without the insolubles.
it may be gummy, if so sit in a dry warm place eg, windowsill for 1/2 hour then crush it up and snort dat.

not much at all really. it depends how much water u use to filter it.
filter it once and put the strong rinse (the one u just did) aside. to get most of wats left in the filterput a lil bit more water through it and tase the filteredliquid. judge by the taste, if its strong andworth doing just evap the water and la di da(this can be repeated).

when SWIM does it he does it 3 times andgets everything so the filtered water tastes like well, water.

cant take credit for the idea, but no worries glad to of helped.

Swim would like to point out that snorting is definitly dangerous to your lungs. Swim doesn't know how small the particles would have to be to get into your lungs, but swim honestly beleive it's possible for small and even medium sized particles to make it past your nose into your lungs. Swim is guessing on partical size cause Swim was too high when swim was crushing to remember what size the particles were. But after taking a couple morphine pills one night swim got the bright idea to try crushing about 10 more and snorting them. Since swim was already pretty high he probably didn't do a very thorough job crushing them, although since he doesn't remember he can't say for sure it's possible he crushed them until they would crush no more. Anyhow after swim snorted all that morphine and went to bed he woke up when his parents came to check on him only to discover he had lost all his hearing (it was temporary thank god only lasted a couple days) but the point is once he was in the hospital the doctor told swim he had aspiration pneumonia from the crushed pills getting snorted into his lungs. So do be careful when it comes to snorting, I don't know if swims experience was a fluke, but I don't think it was I think more of the stuff you snort ends up in your lungs than you ever thought

agreed. swim crushes his ritalin extremely fine, and swim makes it a practice to cough after every snort, because occasionally swim notices that when he coughs (with nose plugged) powder shoots out.

That is most likely a result of the unabsorbed powder "dripping" down the back of your throat from your nose. This happens when you snort almost anything that isn't fully absorbed by your mucous membranes, and it's the reason you get that bitter taste in the back of your mouth when you do coke.

i failed to mention that the coughing produces the same effect when done immediately after snorting, if that changes anything. sorry for missin it

What is the best for snorting methylphenidate (the least binders and craps) between Ritalin® or generic methylphenidate (such as APO-methylphenidate)?
