Re: codiene / vicodin / hydrocodone

Good for what exactly?

It would be good for its analgesic effects over a sustained time-period. Being one of the weaker opioids it may produce a euphoric effect depending on ones tolerance.

Re: codiene / vicodin / hydrocodone

i take dihydrocodeine 10mg at the moment i have been instructed to take 8 A day as i said they dont work, but docter is persistent, as of yet its not doing anything for my back, but again it depends how you are with opiods.
i havnt seemed to get addicted, if anything i dont take it if i can help it, why take somthing that dosnt work.

so i wouldnt worry about addiction with this drug as it isnt as strong as the rest.
but im not sure about time relese ones. might be stroinger then taking 8 a day.

Re: codiene / vicodin / hydrocodone

Please dont self incriminate... use SWIM wherever possible.

dihydrocodeine can causing a sickness kind of feeling commonly associated with many opiates. Try asking SWIY's doctor for a anti-emetic to go with it such as cyclizine or buccastem. (uk)

Re: codiene / vicodin / hydrocodone

SWIM used temgesic for about 6 years, she eventually got tolerant and could stick 6 under her tongue without getting any pain relief. Before that she found them very good and didn't get any real problems with them, like most opiods they can make you feel a little sick but this will usually go if you eat something, they are also available in 7 day patches.

Re: codiene / vicodin / hydrocodone

hydrocodone and codeine are two completely different drugs. vidcodin is the name for hydrocodone with aceteminophen. they are both opioids and do pretty much the same thing- kill pain and pretty much have the same side effects. swim is pretty sure it is common to be alergic to one opioid and not the other. many people are alergic to codeine, more so than other opioids.

Re: codiene / vicodin / hydrocodone

is there any advantage to putting dihydrocodeine 30mg under the tongue and allowing it to dissolve. ie like temgesic.

it will be more readily absorbed but will take longer to dissolve as it's not aimed at sublingual absorbtion. putting it under the tongue is very similar to insufflating it (snorting) in terms of availablity.
