Meth, ice, Speed

If the molecule is anything other than C10H15N in the proper configuration then it is no longer meth it is something else.

SWIM has never taken meth or any other speed-type substance other than pharmaceutical amphetamines. Once SWIM lived in the mountains for about 6 months and meth was real popular there. People referred to it as shard, ice, glass, meth, crank, and some others that SWIM doesn't remember. SWIM has only ever seen what was referred to as glass. She's always wondered about whether in fact these were all the same substances or if they were different. During her stay in the mountains, she was told crank, meth, glass, ice were just different qualities/purities of the same drug.

SWIM has always been confused as to whether crank/meth were the same thing and glass/ice were the same thing. Are all of these the same drug? Or do they differ in the same manner that cocaine and crack cocaine do?

EDIT: Or do all these different terms just imply a specific grade of methamphetamine?

It is all generally the same substance of different purity.

Ice is a street drug slang term. Slang terms have no meaning other than what each individual decides to give them. There is no basis for argument over such definitions. So long as the use of a word has an understanding as to what it means when used on the street between two people, it doesn't matter.

Some have understood Ice to mean only meth, but the circles of people they associated with, were primarily meth users. Heck, the term "hard drive" came to be understood as a reference to meth, or even simply "shit".

Arguing over what a slang term does and doesn't mean is nonsensical.
