Meth, ice, Speed

Recently got in an argument with a friend about speed and ice. I thought they were the same thing, she said there not. Arnt they both just meth, Ice the smokable form? If there not the same whats the diff. between them

Ice is crystal methylamphetamine, quite pure methylamphetamine and quite hard to get at the streets.


They are not both meth. There is a diffirence between your speed (amphetamine-sulfate) and meth (methylamphetamine-sulfate). Let's say they are both in powder form.


The diffirence is the chance of addiction and the strength of the effect, which in both cases is a win for meth. Meth has more ease in passing the blood-brain-barriere than his little brother amphetamine. This way it reaches the brain more easily and the chance of addiction will increase and the effect will increase. Also, the boiling point of meth is lower than that of amphetamine, which makes it possible to smoke.

- Speed (powder form) = amphetamine-sulfate, maximum amount of amphetamine is 73%, at least 27% is sulfate
- Speed (liquid form, oil-like substance) = amphetamine base, maximum amount of amphetamine is 100%
- Meth (powder form) = methylamphetamine-sulfate, maximum amount of methylamphetamine is approximately equal to that of amphetamine-sulfate. The methyl eases the passing trough the blood-brain-barrier, which makes it more addictive and more effective
- Ice = Crystal methylamphetamine and most used for smoking, has a high purity most of the time and hurts quite bad when taken nasal

SWIM has never tried speed, it always struck her as a somewhat scuzzy drug, and she never liked the idea of the comedown. She also spent a year at uni living with the most twisted speed-beast she has ever met and it wasn't fun: emotionally exhausting, sometimes frightening and ultimately very boring.


She has also always imagined it as a somehow empty high, like the feeling she gets from cocaine. Plus she has always tried to stay away from drugs that she feels could be addictive for her.


But each to their own...

Tried it many times in every form it comes in, and every way of administration except IV, which I simply won't do with any drug.



I find it to be a shallow and useless experience as far as drugs go. Nothing to learn from it.



It also damages too many lives when people get addicted to it, which
despite it's shallow nature, I can see how easy it could be to get
addicted, because it can be at least fun on occasion.



To me the fun is not worth the harm, you guys can keep it.

I completely disagree with a lot of these people drawing clear lines as to what this-or-that particular word references to. These are street (slang) terms. I've heard "speed" used in reference to both adderall and methamphetamine. I've also heard "ice" used in reference to both 4-MAR and Methamphetamine. I've also heard "dope" be used in reference to numerous drugs, mostly by cops, but even in the drug community there's no clarity on what "dope" means; a lot of people use it for meth, I think of heroin when I hear it. Anyways, not trying to tear anybody down so I hope this doesn't sound to cranky . Anyways to answer your question, Ice could very well be reference to either methamphetamine or 4-MAR, and speed, I could possibly see being referenced to amphetamine, methamphetamine, or 4-MAR. But that's probably just because I've heard of people buying what they thought was opium and turned it out it was heroin (though that must have been a combination of a dumb dealer and a dumb buyer).

SWIM felt much the same, but usually if something's in from of him, free, and its at the right time (any time he doesn't have shit to do, e.g. he's going to a party or whatever), he'll probably do it. He did and it was surprisingly different from what he expected. He finds cocaine dull, boring and over-rated. He did find speed to be pointless, however, he found it to be pointless in the form of things such as video games: you don't learn much from it, it's not the healthiest thing for you, but sometimes it could be fun. A very strange experience for him as he had only done adderall a few times; besides that his only previous drug experience, albeit a lot, was concentrated in opiates, benzos, misc pharms, and hallucinogens. I could see how it could be addicting but SWIM's not personally the type of person who likes to stay up all night and dis- and re-assemble clocks . Although, SWIM has to admit that no matter what he did when he was on it, it just made everything hella fun , although quite unlike the cocaine high.

Well swim doesn't know the difference between ice, meth, speed, dope. Swim hasn't seen any for 14 years and it looks veeery different now. So the stuff that looks like glass pieces is ice? The brown powdery stuff swim is familiar with is meth? Or is swim wrong? Swim also thinks coke is boring and had bad heart paps from trying it once. No thank you. That stuff blows. Swim also tried lsd a looooong time ago and it was just too weird for swim.

Hi!

SWIM as done quite a lot of speed this month, but he ain't very sure of what the substence really is. Its in the form of tablet, with a logo on it (a bomb, in this case). I guess it's a street form of amphetamine but I just wanted to be sure. Can meth be found in the form of a tablet?

I also have a question wich is a little off-topic. I recently mixed pills with weed. I took one pill and smoked between 3 and 4 bowls (and I only smoke once a month or so). The effect was one of the weirdest shit that I ever felt. The back of my neck was a little buzzy and the sensation was very euphoric and pleasant! I felt like my mind was explosing of joy! I had done speed before that day and had never felt such an euphoric experience. The product is the same. Is this a common effect? And is this an effect that can be achieved by mixing speed with weed or simply taking more speed (weed syneric effect could have boosted the speed).

Well if that is what it is, it affects different people in different ways. Swim never cared for x at all. She tried it once, the bad little lab monkey. It didn't do a lot for her. Overrated in her opinion. Really swiy doesn't know unless it is analyzed and that probalby wouldn't be a great idea.

There are some differences. First crank is slang for meth. It is the same. Ice is more smokable but yes another form of meth. If swiy goes to the photo galleries swim thinks swiy will see the differences. There are several different varieties, like opiates, they are basically the same drug but different if swiy knows what I mean. Some types of meth are better than other in swim's opinion...eh I will let it go at that.

Where the variable comes in is how much of that pile of powder is meth?

Meth is white to clear in color.

Ice is generally recrystallized meth, if done slowly with a dual solvent rex it will be of high purity.

4-methylaminorex is very similar in appearance to rex'd meth.

Crank is made from gupchuckers performing Birch reductions. Much of this end product will consist of binders and waxes that weren't removed prior to reduction (gup chucking is grinding the pill as a whole and tossing it all into the mix, which is very stupid. "Cookers" who do this usually think they get back 3x the dope than what was actually possible.)
