<?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn
chemas-microsoft-com ffice marttags" />Guys - I know I'm a newbie on this forum but I need ANY advice out there. I'm a regular pothead - I smoke about 5 times a week and 90% of the time my fiancé joins me. Lately we've cut it down to like once or twice a week just coz we're not THAT into it anymore - its more like a "special occasion" thing now. As far as other drugs go we dont use ANYTHING other than mushroom (which we've only used 3 times)... Hell ... I've never even smoked a cigarette before. Two days ago we were having a dinner at my house and we asked a mate around to come join us. We went and got some shrooms (but only enough for 2 as we thought he wasn't coming) and I had some weed lying around (which we'd had the night before and it was fine). He came around at 5:00ish and we took the shroom at around 6:00pm. They were great - we had an awesome time ... lots of laughs etc - then at around 10:30 the shrooms started wearing off (coz we split our portion ment for 2 between 3 people)so we decided to have a joint just before supper. I rolled a SMALL join (3 drags each) and passed it around ... my fiance took 2 drags and started feeling woozy. She sat down .. turned green then WHITE in a matter of minutes.. then I tried to help her to bed and she collapsed on the floor. She didn't have a pulse and she wasn't breathing ... and she was like that for about 30 seconds... we had to give her CPR to bring her back... when she came back she didn't know where she was and she couldn't see anything .. then she started drifting in and out of consciousness for about 5 minutes after that and then she was absolutely fine. We took her to the emergency ward and they just blamed the shrooms (which they would) - but I'm not convinced ... it just doesn't sound right ... I know A LOT of drug users and they, no I, have EVER heard of ANYTHING like this!?? Please .. does anyone have any advice ... is there something else I should do (doctor wise) - must she have a cat scan or some or other test!??? or has someone out there had a similar thing happen on shrooms / weed?<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn chemas-microsoft-com ffice ffice" />

did the shrooms look unusual? im thinking it probably didnt have to do
with the weed if you smoked it previuosly. could have been fucked with shrooms laced with sometihng, although you cant lace much with shrooms and nothing i can think of that would produce that kind of reaction, possibly a misidentified mushroom that was only in her batch? or an allergic reaction? sounds pretty fuckin weird to me. the mushrooms didnt by any chance look like a dried out version of my avatar did they? like red and white mario mushrooms? those would be amanita muscaria or some other species of amanita which are known to cuase delerium, sickness, and in some cases death. but most seasoned shroomers would know straight off if they had been given amanitas instead of psilocybin shrooms because they look so distinct...i really have no idea what happened to your fiance, it sounds very very strange. |

no - the shrooms looked normal ... and it was all from the same batch too - it was one massive head and a 3 stalks - we each had one stalk and then divided the head up between us - so we all had the same stuff. But she's had a very similar reaction to weed before - I'd say about 15 times in the past 2 years of smoking she's felt VERY ill - and turned white and gone woozy (first I thought it was a strange form of greenies etc - but then it happened more and more and I figured it was just some type of reaction she sometimes got) - and this time around she had EXACTLY the same symptoms ... only this time her heart stopped

That sounds like the blood sugar level of your fiance dropped down a lot. It is a common thing to happen with weed. That looks bad(and feels)at the moment, but isn't so. It is easely solved by consuming sugar, preferably sugarwater.

One can only speculate over an internet chatroom. I am inclined to believe however thatit isfalse inbelieving thather heart and breathing actually stopped. She most probably was only pulling a sickie |

Unfortunatly thats what most poeple would think given the situation but you had to have been there .. my friend was slapping her as hard as he possibly could before we started CPR and there was NO reaction what-so-ever ... we both felt for a pusle and I put my head on her chest ... there was absolutly no breath

I would definitly get her to do a full medical test, beginning with a extensive blood test & blood pressure. Since the others where not effected anywhere near the way she was, by the weed and mushrooms, it is not likely that the weed, nor the mushrooms where the real cause. They may have been the trigger of an underlying cause.

It is definitely hard to play doctor over the internet. As such I would have her examined by a physician. I also find it difficult to believe that she actually stopped breathing AND her heart stopped. CPR has a very low efficacy rate in true pulseless, non breathing patients. Kudos to you and your friend for responding so effectively if that was indeed the case

when she gets tested be sure to keep note of her blood pressure. although it is unlikely she might have fallen into a syncope state. when the lower number in a blood pressure rating drops to around 40 for some people it can cause fainting and even comas in the worst cases. depressants do slow the blood andrelax the muscles, including the heart, but its almost unthinkable that weed and shrooms could have that big of an effect. its not a strong theory but its the only thing that i could think of that would have any connection. type in "syncope on google and see what you come up with, and best of luck to you both. |

Swim has had a horrible blood sugar drop with weed before, god what a
horrible experience. Didn't have anything to eat all day before and took too many big hits in a short space of time. Started feeling woozy and completely disconnected, then vision started to go darker and darker until everything was blackness. Slowly regained vision about 15 minutes later, and Swims face was sheet white (according to friends). Horrible anxiety and paranoia for the rest of the high -around 3 hours- because bad experiences are so magnified when you're high. Searched online after and came to the conclusion it was a blood sugar drop, as I had nothing sugary within hours before and Swim already has hypoglycemia. |

My mother had a horrible allergic reaction to pot once and spent a week
in the hospital. She also smoked for years before the incident. I guess it can happen, and if he says her heart stopped, I'd say he's probably right. |

Hi all - and thanks for the respsonses. I took her for a whole bunch of tests yesterday (still waiting on the allergy test results) and so far its come back with her having VERY low blood pressure to a point where the doc needs to medicate her to get it up to an acceptable level. The doc is under the impression that her breathing stopped but that her heart slowed to a rate that we just couldn't feel - which I'm prepared to accept (althought at the time I was convinced it had stopped)... we both could have missed her pulse if it was VERY shallow - but there was NO breath AT ALL - that I am 100%sure of. Anyway - the outcome is that she's not allowed to touch weed again ... end of story - which is fine by me - I'm just glad its nothing more serious than that! Again - thanks for all the responses ...you've allpretty much touched onwhat all of the doctors have told me - which makes me feel much better! Thanks again cheers |

SWIM had this happen to him as well, SWIM attributed it to a drop in blood sugar levels, seeing as how he hadn't eaten for 12 hours prior to taking some deep hits. EDIT: It was extremely scary, SWIM passed out twice and his face was ghost-white and he was shaking with coldness (barely any blood pressure/heart beat) for three hours. Make sure your friend has a decent meal before they smoke. SWIM has done this and had no problems sinceEdited by: jt710 |
