How similar would you say ritalin is to cocaine?

I've heard ppl say all different things, but most say it's like a notch below blow and that the come down is way worse. I am just curious.

Re: How similar would you say ritalin is to cocaine?

Swim would say NEARLY identical.

Ritalin has higher dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake property so theoretically it 'gets you higher' but the norepinephrine reuptake property is probably responsible for the jitters and paranoia as commonly reported with ritalin. Cocaine made swim jittery and paranoid, but not in the same way as ritalin. On ritalin swim has to be tapping the floor with his foot, keep in mind SWIM is ADHD 14/16 of the diagnostic criteria. Swim does the same thing on cocaine, but doesn't exactly have to... he just likes to. When combined with a couple beers, swim feels much more euphoric than with cocaine, but has not tested the difference between cocaethylene and ethylphenidate...

Re: How similar would you say ritalin is to cocaine?

swim would say it is nearer speed than coke as it is made from piperidine which is what they use to get mdma if swim is thinking right it gives the amphetamine feeling to it. also it is perscribed for adhd or attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, where they normaly perscribe amphetamines to balance out ones behavior, by enbiling swiy to concentrate better. also swim belives it is used in a simmerla way too methadone for h addicts, by giving it to methamphetamine addicts to help stabalise them. this would also exsplain the come down as swim has never had a coke come down just a slight sleepy feeling, even with major exsessive use over several days. they do get ratty with people but due to lack of sleep. where as speed makes them feel like shit after. plus can not sleep with out major chemical cosh. swim sugests swiy reads more about it by utfse as swim may be wrong.

Re: How similar would you say ritalin is to cocaine?

SWIM thinks ritalin is way inferior to coke - less euphoria (if any), less energy, no numbness (ahh...), no brain-popping rapture...
It's been years since SWIM has done either, but ritalin never compared in his younger, more misguided days. Ritalin is to cocaine what pepsi is to ritalin.
However the ritalin comedown is more tolerable, less depressing - after repeated use the duration of cocaine's effectiveness drops to the point of near non-existence and use becomes a way of warding off the depression for as long as it takes to chop and snort a line, whereas ritalin isn't as addictive, to SWIM, years back.
Honestly, in a bizzare way, he may think ritalin is the superior drug...

Re: How similar would you say ritalin is to cocaine?

No euphoria? Seriously? Maybe its just brain chemistry. Swim happens to know for a fact that anything that releases or blocks uptake of dopamine causes euphoria. It may be possible the reason swiy doesn't become euphoric is due to the norepinephrine reuptake inhibiting effect. Possibly this means that swiy has a far larger concentration of NE in his brain versus DA.

Swim gets EXTREMELY euphoric when he experiences joy from situations while on methylphenidate. That is, the release of dopamine caused by 'happy' is centered in the brain, is not broken down and lingers for quite a long time. Swim suggests that swiy tries listening to his favorite music after snorting 20mgs of methylphenidate and see what happens .

Swim enjoys cocaine much more because its a powerful rush versus methylphenidate, but cocaine has a much more depressing comedown. Swim has come to learn that drugs with longer halflives aren't nearly as addictive compared to drugs with shorter ones (thats right folks he believes methamphetamine isn't as addictive as cocaine). Yeah after meth anyone feels tired, depressed, and kind of craves, but they can sleep it off. Methylphenidate, you can sleep it off. Amphetamine, sleep it off... Go on a coke binge earlier in the day, well, thats much harder to sleep off in his opinion.

Methylphenidate has a similar Chem. make up to cocaine. there effects have been proven to be almost identical by scientists. Some detox centers have been using it on cocaine addicts just like methadone is used on heroin addicts. plus swim has injected it before and it's phenomenal. And way less expensive.
