i recently ordered some salvia 7X online and while waiting for it to
arrive i learned that it can trigger schizophrenia in people with a
family history of it. my aunt on my mothers side is schizphrenic
so i am really scared of losing my mind when i try it i have
never tried a hallucinogenic drug before any recomondations
has anyone else with a family history of insanity tried
hallucinogens. </span></span>

I THINK, from what I've read is, that if a drug causes some kind of problem like a seizure or something, that it would have happend anyway, the drug just made it happen sooner. Maybe someone can explain it better, this is the best I could come up with. And I could be wrong, so you might want to do a lot of research on your own.

not exactly. they used to say some drugs like LSD and whatnot can cause
mental health issues like schizophrenia, but its not actually LSD
causing it, its LSD bringing out a genetic disposition towards having
it. its not like "well fuck it man, sure i went nuts, but if hadnt went
nuts from taking that acid i just wouldve gone nuts the next year". if
you have the genetic dispostion but you dont do the drugs in question
you may not ever become schizophrenic, so if you actually have a family
history of schizophrenia i would say stay away from psychedelic drugs.
you can also get fried just from taking too much acid anyway, even if
you dont have genetic mental health problems, so be careful. i havent
heard this about salvia before, but it sounds plausible. i know
somebody who became bipolar from doing mushrooms too much, even though
im pretty sure psilocybin itself dosent have any permanent effects on
your brain. the intensity of the experience can bring out mental health
problems that are beneath the surface. maybe do some research about the
genetics involved with schizophrenia and see if they know how its
passed down (for some genes they know that you cna only get some
certain disorder from your fathers side and such). but if i were you id
be really careful and do my research before doing psychedelics.

It is possible that psychedelic drugs can cause latent psychological
problems to surface. This only happens if you already have the
disorder, and it even without the drugs it will likely surface later in
life anyways. I also wouldn't recommend using salvia as your first
psychedelic, it is a very powerful drug and very few people like it. If
you are going after salvia because it is legal, you should look into
LSA. It is found in Morning Glory and Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds.
Hawaiian Baby Woodrose is less likely to cause side effects and
requires you to eat less material, but is generally more expensive than
morning glory. If you do decide to still go with salvia first, read
EVERYTHING you can find about it before using it. There is nothing more
terrifying than using Salvia without knowing what to expect.

the only reason i choose salvia was because i assume my parents have
never heard of it and i could pass it off as something else when it
came i the mail. im pretty sure my parents know abut LSA. so that would
be hard to slip by them. i also don't have a way of obtaining any LSD
and after doing some DXM i thought stronger phychedelic drugs would be
fun.

This whole thing about psyechedellics causing latent insanity is BS.

Psychedellic are psychological intensifiers, they can only act on what is there. Unless you are already slightly schizo to begin with you alomost certainly have nothing to worry about. In all honesty the use of psychedellics might decrees the odds of you going nuts in the future, as they have the tendancy when used correctly to make the mindmore healthy.

Also DXM is not a psychedellic, not even close. Taking DXM tells you nothing about the psychedellic experience. Smoking weed will tell you more about the psychedellic state of consciousness than DXM ever will.

I agree with you to a degree, if used correctly they can open the mind and give a positive advantage to the individual, but thats the point, they (psychedelics) are often NOT used correctly - wrong setting, wrong dose, too frequent etc. thats when you start to see problems.

My father suffers from schizonphrenia so I understand quite a lot about the genetics of the condition. When my girlfriend and I were planning a family we saw a specialist to ask questions about avoiding passing on any 'schizophrenic' genes to future offspring. What I learnt was this: -there is no 'schizophrenia gene' - or none that can be tested for anyway. there is however an extended riskfor children of schizophrenics aquiring the condition, basically if one parent hasschizophrenia the child has a 33% chance of developing symptoms (this could be a psychotic episode not necessarily the full blown condition) - if two parents have the condition then the risk of the child developingit is up to 50%.

This risk then decreases further with generation - ie the grandkids of a schizophrenic have roughly a 17% chance of developing any symptoms etc.

However something i need to mention is that this could very easily be down to 'nurture' rather than 'nature' - being brought up in a family with mental health isssues could be the primary reason for developing symptoms rather than defective genetic transfer.

So to answer your question cartex12, I would say that the actual risk of you aquiring any ill efects due to your Aunts medical history would be very low, but all the same I would heed the advise of penguin Phreak above - read everything you can about this wonderfull plant, start slow - just try a few leaves to begin with - if you have no problems then get yourself some extract, nice music, decent mates and descend into 'salvia land' ;-) - if on the otherhand you start imagining that aliens are trying to take over your brain or that you are infact the direct descendant of jesus Christ Centurion (my dad indulged in this particular fantasy at one point) - then stop smoking the stuff sharpish, and stick to beer lol

I wish you a happy Salvia learning experience!

Well ............ While you should be careful if you have a family history of mental disorders, don't let the occasional bad trip scare you away from psychedellics.

Bad trips are often caused, though not always, by mental/emotional issues that need to be attended to. Most emotional and mental issues have nothing to do with mental illness. They are just the normal crap that people get from growing up.

By using psychedellics correctly and responsibly a person can work through mental issues very effectivly and much faster than they ever could without their aid, and much further.

I don't think that Salvia might cuase problems with schizofrenia. LSD and shroomz may be. Even weed is capable of doing this. But Salvia doesn't change your consciousness. It just causes hallucinations and disforia. The method it works makes it impossible in my opinion.

Salvia isn't really a psychedelic, at least not like the typical ones. These affect the mind and the consciosness. And Salvia doesn't do this to me. I still do it some times. Try mixing it with DXM or Ketamine (K is way better). Amphetamines intensify it (have no idea why)Edited by: a-SalviaLover

I am not really smart and this is half opinion and half fact so forgive
me if im wrong. I rarley get sick and havnt had a single broken bone my
whole life and my cousins who are pussys get sick and broken bones all
the time, and my sister sais that the mind is really powerful and if
you have a good attitude and think you will do fine then you might, she
also told me that these doctors did a test on a couple of people with
cancer they gave some of them a placebo wich is a fake medication like
a suger pill and they gave the others nothing and the ones who thought
they were recieving good medication did far more better. so if you
think you are going to freak out you might so try to have a good mind
all the time weed is really good at this lol.

if you have any doubts about taking anything psyechedellic before hand...don't do it please to keep you from having to write a bad trip report and to keep me from having to reading it

if you are not ready for lady salvia she will hit you like a otn of bricks, and anyone who has experienced her knows that to be the truth

salvia is not a simple legal high for kids
this is a very respectable tool

please treat her as such
