Exclamation I think my adderall is killing me, Just a thought.

I think I may have heart disease now and due to no insurance and low income/ All I can do is talk and learn and educate myself by with the knows of others til I can afford help. While growing up in the 90s, I was given LARGE doses of unnecessary ritalin from age 5-15. Was never old enough to link a vast pool of unfavorable symptoms to the meds. I used to wake up semi NIGHTLY with scary Central Sleep Apnea. I also recall struggling to excercize or even climb a flight of stairs... should not be a problem for a healthy 10/yo but again, I was too young to report this as a possible side effect. The apnea/fatigue went away after age 15 when I finally linked ritalin to years of aggravated social trouble. My social life began its healing right away but not without GREAT PAIN AND FAILURES peppered throughout young adulthood. A few years and a little bit of Hollywood later, I started Adderall therapy this past spring because of my untreated ADHD/AS was hurting me. Too bad they didnt have that back when I was a kid because this is MUCH better at its purpose for me at least, doesnt shut me up or close off blood flow to all my extremities, a dangerous reality I remember from being a kid. I went to Adderall Because I have an addictive personality that is prone to unhealthful consumption. Supervised Adderall corrects this like magic. I even abruptly quit smoking day one and forgot about it. Now for trouble. Almost as soon as I began adderall, I developed unfamiliar, DAILY and persistent heart palpitations and circulation trouble that triggers "arrhythmia" symbol on my home monitor but conveniently never caught at ER. The types of arrhythmias to my research must either be atrial fibrillation or a BAD BAD case of skipped beats, cardiomyopathy or heart failure. The arrhythmias often comorbid in order of frequency: Shortness of breath regardless of posture of posture, failure to get enough oxygen satisfaction during good sex, muscle fatigue, numbness in random extremities, infrequent redness/ pooling of blood in feet and hands, and DANGEROUSLY Erratic and postural related shifts in blood pressure and heart rate that looks alot like POTS, a postural condition. After ekg, ct scan and a little blood work The ER diagnosed as Anxiety with nonchalance, sent me off with benzodiazepines. The diagnosis was comforting and made sence...UNTIL these cardio symptoms marched on leaving behind only the anxiety. Now instead of panicking I go "Oh yeah there goes my heart rate and I feel hella faint and nauseated but o well". I'l either sit down, or excercize moderately, and do a home BP reading, go about business. Today the anxiety from my past is gone. It was a short lived result of leaving the hollywood lifestyle behind abruptly which angered my body. Less heart trouble on days I omit my adderall, but if i skip that id better skip my ativan too or I get return of Central sleep apnea probably for reasons of oversedation in absense of adderall. I CANNOT see a cardiologist or any doctor and afford anything more than the few tests ive done for a while due to no insurance so instead I choose to discuss with others what is most likely, pool the answers and draw my own outcome to handle it until I can get to a cardiologist. Whats Ironic is I never ever had any symptoms like this during my "hollywood lifestyle" if you will... Maybe the electrical changes triggered specifically by adderall has exposed the hidden accumulation of heart damage done by years of ritalin, sleep apnea, and my hollywood days of 2006-mid 2009. I can do jogging and REAL excercize, enthsiastic work just fine but ironically the everyday chores and responsiblities in my life are leaving me physically and mentally fatigued. I quit "hollywood" on my own and I guess even the strong men sometimes lose after they win. I thank anyne who has the time to share knowledge. LAST NIGHT something bad happened. Befallen me was a sudden modest decrease in my visual quality but nothing major except when I'd look left, Suddenly I get DOUBLE vision. Look forward or look right everything is normal but look left, I see stuff twice. Creepy but true. This was along with a BAD arrhythmia, during which my general balance was way off and I found myself stumbling around my apartment which struck me funny and aside from mild sleep deprivation and stress, little reason that would occur but I suspect its related to arrhytmia. That weird left side double vision did not last for more than a few hours but today my vision is still ever so slightly off. I am 25, 6ft 1, Male with LOW cholesterol and good diet, and I just want answers because the internet nowadays seems purposely void of availability of TRUTH. I dont want to give up my adderall. Perhaps my doses are way too high and we may need to reduce them, but the stuff really does its job where its supposed to Thanks again so much! Dempsey

Re: I think my adderall is killing me, Just a thought.

Swiy probably doesn't have heart problems if the ER never caught it. If swiy's blood pressure and cholesterol and stuff has been good it's fine. Panic disorder, limited symptom attacks, and anxiety in general can cause a lot of palpilations and feelings of chest discomfort, chest pain, weakness etc. Glaucoma is a possibility with the vision thing, as stimulant drugs can worsen it. Swim had a lot of the same paranoid feelings at one point in time after overdosing. But he's over them and he doesn't notice any "problems" with his heart, that were all in his head before. Go to the doctor, get an electrocardiogram done if swiy is worried about arrhythmia. Low blood pressure could also be a cause of the blurred vision, and sometimes ritalin and adderall are prescribed for low blood pressure. Just some thoughts.

Also. I may have been able to help you out more if you had provided me with some numbers. Blood pressure on and off adderall, dosages taken at a time, dosages per day, family average lifespan, what swiy's closest relatives(ie grandparents great grandparents, aunts, brothers, etc.) died from if possible, if swiy has ever had any problems with his blood pressure or anything in the past.

Also. Tell swiy not to think about his breathing. Thinking about how you breath and how your heart feels and holding your breath can affect your heart rate and how your chest feels. Also, it's a common mistake you're probably going to get a warning for if you haven't yet, but learn to use swim/swiy. Someone who isn't me or someone who isn't you. Even if the medications were legally prescribed to that person, still use it.
