my 1st Salvia Breakthrough! a.k.a. WTF is this $h!t
About a month ago My Imaginary Friend was at a local head shop, searching for something he had discovered on his latest beach trip. It was a legal herbal product which when smoked, produced a feeling in him which was indistinguishable from a really good cannabis high, and would not show up on his company's random drug tests. The shop did not carry what he was looking for, and My unsuspecting Imaginary Friend was presented an ounce of salvia 30x extract. He and his other friend smoked it all and were quite disappointed. Later MIF went to another shop and was told that the particular brand he had bought "sucks," and was offered another ounce of "the best they carried," some 45x of another brand. MIF asked the shop owner if he himself had smoked this stuff. He replied that he had, and told MIF that it completely took his balance away. Well, SWIY has to admit that sounds pretty damn good, so MIF paid an obscene amount of money for some 45x salvia extract, having no idea what he was getting himself into. That night, while alone on his front porch in his quiet, rural neighborhood, he smoked a bowl of it in a standard $10 head shop pipe. The porch light was off, as even though the substance he was smoking is perfectly legal in his state, MIF does not like to attract attention to himself. After two hits, his hand instinctively lowered the pipe to the table beside him as he immediately knew something really big and bad was about to hand him his ass on a paper plate! The really nasty pins & needles body high began to take hold, being especially noticable on his eyes: or maybe it was his eyelids...he does not know if his eyes were open or closed at any point during the trip. He leaned his head back, maybe a bit too hard, as it seemed to merge with the brick wall behind him. He would later recall his field of vision beginning to twist in some sort of a stained glass type pattern. (This effect has been very briefly brought back to him by smoking two bowls of regular dried leaf in a bong, and MIF finds this effect very creepy and disturbing for some reason.) It is at this point, My dear old Imaginary Friend as I know him completely vanished, with the exception of his shattered and confused consciousness, which remained there, aware and completely alone in what he could only describe as some sort of an abyss, surrounded and permeated by indescribable OE and CE visuals, as well as an overwhelming sense of terror, confusion, lonliness and FINALITY! As he slowly began to see his actual surroundings, his eyes began to focus on two very strange stump-like objects, which he finally realized were his legs! He found himself repeatedly uttering one phrase, "OMFG...OMFG....OMFG...." Once he'd completely reestablished that he was a human being who had just smoked a bowl of pure terror, he quickly grabbed his pipe, ran into the house, tossed the pipe in his stash spot, and laid down on the couch, trying to make any kind of sense out of what had just happened. Terror gave way to pure awe, and chaos gave way to serenity, and finally, the best sleep imaginable! While My Imaginary Friend and I disagree with the manner in which he was introduced to salvia, he reports to me that he is glad he was introduced to it. He has had one more breakthrough (20x in a bong, and was able to put some preparation into it since he actually had some idea what to expect), and will try it again sometime in the future, hoping to eventually get past the fear and more fully explore what this strange plant has to offer.

Hopefully your imaginary friend learned an important lesson here: know what you are getting yourself into! Taking unknown drugs with only the words of a salesman to go on is pretty much asking for trouble. With the Internet, and especially this forum, available, it is very easy to find good information about any common, and many uncommon, drug. There's no reason to be ignorant about what you are putting into your body. Even if it's an imaginary one. Be informed!
