Phenergan (promethazine)?? Guys i need help and advice please...

Hey guys i have recently got these pills from my chemist called Phenergan for my allergic reactions and have noticed some sedative effects. Has anyone here ever tried them? Any experience using them? And what is the dosage required to get a "trip"etc? i have 25mg promethazine tablets. I am a experienced user of almost all drugs, however i have a soft side for opiates and downers. Thankyou.

Re: Phenergan (promethazine)?? Guys i need help and advice please...

Hi,

Promethazine is an antihistamine (like diphenhydramine, doxylamine and hydroxyzine). Because it is an antihistamine, it is prescribed to treat allergic reactions. But it is also percribed as an sleep aid, because of it's sedative effect. In some countries, like UK, it is even OTC.

There is no recreational potential in this medicine. It cannot be used as an dilleriant like diphenhydramine. If SWIY highers the dose SWIY will end up with excessive sedation and more negative side effects will occur. Even high doses given intraveniously only very rarely will cause euphoria. High doses are not advisable. SWIM does not know which is the maximum safe dose. But it is defninetely useless to get high in SWIM's opinion. It is good as sleep aid though in the recommended 25 mg dose.

Hope this helps.

Re: Phenergan (promethazine)?? Guys i need help and advice please...

swim says promethazine is useful for only three things. sleep aid, allergic reactions, and opiate potentiation. swim has used doses of up to 125 mgs he says 25 produces a mildlly sedating effect thats useful for a booster when his zolpidem isnt working for sleep( dont combine cns depressants if swiy isnt familiar with both substances and ones limit to both of them. 50mg makes him fall a sleep quick but no use for staying a sleep, 75-100mg induce a deep sleep that leaves swim with a very nasty hangover effect in the morning and anything past that just makes swim extremelly tired but unable to sleep which is pure hell. there is no receational effect unless swiy likes being tired with no euphoria. in swims experience promethazine does not give an antixylotic effect either as it has no effect on his anxiety attacks. he adds that small dosages are a great tool to augment weaker opioid experiences they tend to increase euphoria slighltlly and give more of a nod to weaker drugs such as codiene or hydrocodone

Swim agrees with what's already been posted, but also wants to add that promethazine is also used as an antiemetic (used to treat nausea and vomiting) in the US.

Swim's sister-in-law had it prescribed Swim's SIL's pregnancy, and swim took one for insomnia one night and it worked quite well, thought swim was groggy the next day. Swim sees no recreational use for it at all.

thanks for the reply guys
SWIM has discovered the effect of having too much and not being able to sleep but be really tired, and SWIM says "boy IT IS HELL". lol. SWIM has also had nightmares when he takes it for sleep. Recently SWIM took 75mg of promethzine and let it kick in and sedate him. Just as he was tired and very sleepy he drank a high dose of freshly extracted codeine, it was simply put ....Great.

Re: Phenergan (promethazine)?? Guys i need help and advice please...

Swims experience:

Swim first came across promethazine in a mental ward where swim was placed. At the time swim was on 4mg of lorazepam daily to calm swim down however swim was also allowed promethazine as and when required. Swim noticed a mild calm at 75mg. Swim is not a fan of the drug for the efficacy was minimal for swim, perhaps due to swim having been on 4mg of lorazepam daily; promethazine after all is an anti histamine.

At high dosages promethazine can be rather unpleasant, swim has had similiar experiences as swiy - feeling tired and not being able to sleep (mild restlessness). So overall swim would suggest if swiy wants to feel a feeling of calm benzodiazepines are the way forward.

Regards
hardy
